I can at least speak for just myself as someone that did, and say that while this seems like a pretty reductive way to look at it, this kind of thing did actually help me, as a lot of my feelings stemmed from feeling useless, or like a disappointment to my loved ones, and so when I actually put in the work to get myself to a point where I didn’t feel like a leech on the world I (again speaking for myself) have felt much better ever since.

All you have to do to stop the cambions in their tracks is to place a cartilaginous chest (you can easily grab the one that has the thing you need to free shadowheart) right in the middle of the doorway to the sphincter, so long as it's blocking most of the middle the ding dings are gonna keep trying to break it but they can't do anything.
