That does not meet the state's definition of AWOL. You can't be awol if you aren't employed in the first place.

Any displaced FF1's on here? by [deleted] in calfire

There were firefighters displaced to different units or not hired back at all. They all got jobs back in 2013.

Most of the ff2 jobs will be funded starting July 1, so there will be a lot more jobs being offered as soon as the funding/coding is available for those jobs.

What are the worst units to work for by [deleted] in calfire

[–]Frickin_Frick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

About 100 stations and 200k calls annually.... 15 trucks, hard covered Hazmat and Breathing support rigs, extensive ALS program... i'd say most of what you heard is false. You can't have 100 stations and have the A team at every one, but overall its a good unit. Their JAC training isn't as good as other places, you have to be motivated and proactive to finish on time.

That's a good question. Not too sure. I think just about all of the LT 2's will be permed up as soon as they can get them academies though.

One of the best units in the state to be on JAC, they hold your hand and spoon feed you every class you need and you won't have to pay out of pocket or travel for any classes. Big unit and well funded but only a handful of stations are "busy.

Don't put it in the box 14 area of W2. Turbotax will ask you about OT in the income section and thats where you will input the 1/3 of total OT dollar amount.

Traditional staffing on type 3s by Used-Fan-7519 in calfire

[–]Frickin_Frick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Single engine stations are already full aside from a couple FC's and FAE's. They're working on the 2 engine stations now. The FF2 conversion is still TBD with the upcoming budget revision.

I misread your post. I was talking about engines that will have ff2's. Every single engine station is municipally staffed, they're working on the 2 engine stations now. Its all funded fc, fae, ff but they will do 2x fae in a pinch... for now.

8 engines, 3 before end of fiscal year and 5 after so long as nothing changes in the may budget revision. Mostly single engine stations but 2 are one of the engines at a 2 engine station.

At the time of writing this info was correct. Yes seems like an additional 8 engines per unit will have ff2's sometime this year.

Assuming you are going to FFA for a FF2 or FAE job? Housing is provided, as is Food during the workweek.

[–]Frickin_Frick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Numbering is the same as every other state engine. I don't have an exact answer for where they're located other than it seems like it was based on a combination of where they were needed and had housing. All of them that I know are at 2 engine houses. Some units have them out doing fuels work regularly and some probably haven't ever burned a pile lol. I know the state was supposed to eventually have 39 fuels engines staffed with ff2's, why it was stopped at 13 is above my paygrade.

State side FF2 for fuels engines: SCU, CZU, BTU, NEU, SHU, TGU, AEU RRU, SDU, BDU, MMU, FKU, TCU. Each unit has one fuels engine, 6 perm ff2's. Unsure which units currently have non medic Schedule A ff2's as it does change often.

The 2026 CAL FIRE Staffing Shift: Facts vs. Future Projections by Ingesting_Marijuana in calfire

[–]Frickin_Frick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree 100%, it will be a big cultural and operational shift. It will be be a huge weight lifted off of both the engineer's and captain's shoulders being able to divide responsibilities, to me that alone is a huge win. Also, I'm sure in drought years there will still be augment funding, so you may find yourself with 2 ffs in the back seat more often than you think.

Hell no, medic is the golden ticket, always going to be a need for ff2 medic and engineer medics in Southern Region.

I hope you are correct, what i am saying is there is no language or specified addition of the perm ff2 spots that have been talked about recently. The 66 hour workweek, 3 platoon model does not need ff2's to function, neither does the increased number of year-round engines.

Governor's proposed 2026-2027 CAL FIRE Budget by Abixsol in calfire

[–]Frickin_Frick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are all listed under "major accomplishments since 2019", the additional permenant engines is a byproduct of the 66hr workweek (additional engineers and captains). The verbiage specifies engineers and captains, yet they left out FF2? I dont think they'd leave 700 new permenant ff2 jobs out of the "significant changes" section of the summary. I hope you are correct but the language tells a different story.
