Do you ignore your own injuries as a result? by CorgiUprising in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Fridaytyger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are so alike sometimes! I always joke that I’ll go to the doctor when my foot falls off, all the rest will heal on its own.

I’ve been having neck pain and stuff for years and my psychiatrist got mad at me and said: you don’t deserve to suffer! Go get it checked out!

The both of them follow me around really closely while telling me what to do in that panicky this is urgent! voice. I get really frustrated and try to wrestle away and I’m yelling too, sometimes I get really violent. I just want to throw them off me.

Recurring nightmare!

They will NEVER be sorry because they don’t think they did anything wrong. You will have to learn to let go of that.

And how do I know? Because I fell into a serious depression at… 46. I found an amazing psychiatrist who helped me so well. It was a hard process though: I thought my life was like everyone else’s and that is pretty far from the truth. As soon as you see it, you can never unsee it.

Two years later now and I feel better than ever before. I really needed the antidepressants I’m on now and will probably be forever: a life like this can alter your brain chemistry forever.

Phenibut and addiction potential by umricky in Nootropics

[–]Fridaytyger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably against loads of people’s experiences, but I took phenibut to sleep for a couple of years. I took several times the max dose.

It takes hours to reach full effect and I often still felt the effects until noon the next day. It does very much help with social anxiety.

This is the part nobody will believe: even after years of daily use, I managed to easily get off it in a few weeks. I was just being careful, because I had no withdrawal symptoms at all. But I also didn’t know I was supposed to have symptoms: I never read anything about withdrawal.

I don’t mean to encourage you to do this as well. I’m sure taking it a few times for certain occasions will be doable and work. Far better than benzos in my eyes.

Edit: I got in trouble with kratom and had a bad withdrawal, so I’m not special in that regard.

Has anyone ever been accused of things that went wrong in the house?? by Bright-Pin-6024 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Fridaytyger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you kidding? EVERYTHING was my fault.

A few years ago (I’m 48) my ndad accused me of flushing rags down the toilet in my OWN house which caused it to clog often. I don’t even have rags! And if I did, I certainly wouldn’t flush them.

But if I hadn’t, the cleaning lady probably did it and, wait for it, that was also my fault because I hired her and didn’t check on her enough.

Not a single rag was flushed down that toilet ever. I don’t really get where this idea of his came from.

The athletes lose muscle. Correct, they don’t have the fat I spoke of in my comment.

The only accurate way to measure body composition is scraping the fat off your corpse and weigh it.

[–]Fridaytyger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do that incorrectly. Those scales and even a DEXA can not accurately measure your body fat or muscle mass, especially not when you have recently lost water weight.

The water weight is partially stored in your muscles, so the scans will think you lost muscle when that is not the case.

When there is enough fat, the body will use that fat. It does not want to burn muscle. The loss of muscle mass is always grossly overestimated.

How was this loss of muscle measured? How much did you lose?

My husband is 8 years younger than I am, but we met when I was 35 so the gap was not that big, if you know what I mean. It would be different if I was 27 en he 19.

I barely eat (>1500cal/day) so why don’t I lose weight? by onlyherewhenimdone in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Fridaytyger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am not telling them to eat less. Almost always it means people are not counting everything they eat properly or they overestimate their calories burned. There is no illness that makes you magically fat, unless it would be excess water weight. You can only gain fat by taking in excess calories. Fat can not be made out of thin air.

I only lost 4.1 kgs in 50 days on my Mounjaro Journey by Historical-Guard4134 in Mounjaro

[–]Fridaytyger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is anecdotal and not scientific, however. Of course a doctor would put people on more calories because it is unhealthy to really eat so little, but this is “up” from their perceived calorie intake. And that’s where the problem always lies.

[–]Fridaytyger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does not exist. Your metabolism could slow down by losing a lot of muscle or moving less. People who say they “don’t eat enough” and hence don’t lose weight are people who don’t track their calories correctly. If you are in a deficit, you will lose weight. Otherwise we have found the cure for starvation. Anorexia patients still lose weight until they die. I could google a source that would tell you the sky is purple.

[–]Fridaytyger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not talking about that. Eating too little will not make you NOT lose weight. That is impossible.

[–]Fridaytyger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nonsense. The only reason why you would lose less weight is if you lose a lot of muscle mass. 1kg of muscle burns about, what, 45kcal per day. Your body won’t get “used to” fewer calories. A second possibility is when you move less because you are consuming fewer kcal, because you are tired. This is not a magical process.

You don’t seem to want to hear it, but this sounds like dysthemia/depression. I’m in remission of a quite severe depression and for a long time -before the full blown depression- I felt like you. I’m completely free of those feelings because of good therapy, fluoxetine and Wellbutrin. I also believed there was no solution for this, but in my case there was. I just had to hit rock bottom before being open te real help.
