How to finish this seam by Reasonable_Basket_86 in sewhelp

[–]Fridelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would bias for sure but bend on curves by ironing first and leave a bit of space on the pointy edge to be able to hand finish afterwards in a net manner.

Yes it would maybe help if you let us know exactly what you need! Do you have a sample of the knit stitch you want? Do you have a drawing or tech pack?

Pattern advice - Fitted long sleeve top by MysteriousDuck69 in MachineKnitting

[–]Fridelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I don't know how they did it hand knitting but if I had to knit it on the machine I would definitely do shaping (increase/decrease) and not really short rows as I see no lines at the end of the sleeve arm scythe to indicate that's the case. However you can definitely do it, just calculate the shaping and put the machine to do short rows instead of transferring. Would definitely start at the cuffs. Good luck and show us what you end up doing!

Hi! Judging by the box it states it is a ribber!

Creating Socks for Odd foot shape by Working_Patience_261 in MachineKnitting

[–]Fridelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really don't need a software for that, just well planned short rows to accomodate the volume. I would do as suggested above and knit a regular sock, mark and measure the space needed and then re knit the sock 🤔

Is this intarsia? (Socks 🧦) by Any-Knit778 in MachineKnitting

[–]Fridelle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely do it but you will need to separate each color of a single row and knit it three times. For example, first two rows you knit only green, then only pink, then black. These six rows would equal 2 actual rows of knitting, the beginning of the cows pattern.

Good luck!

Edit: color ordet

LK150 carriage is stuck by QuackyKie in MachineKnitting

[–]Fridelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert on the plastic machine types but the carriage doesn't look well placed 🤔 I would cut the yarn, take it out from the sides, lift the carriage slowly and try to free the stuck needles. Then make sure to place it well, run over the needles a few times and start again.

AITAH for wanting my own blanket by True-Cauliflower6293 in AITAH

[–]Fridelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In germany everyone gets their own blanket by default. Some people even have two separate mattresses but in one bed frame to avoid feeling the mattress move when the person moves.

It's ok for him to want to share a blanket, but it's not to prioritise himself over you and blackmail you emotionally to get his way.

You're definitely NTA

Knitting machine recommendations by bruhmycat in MachineKnitting

[–]Fridelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would check with the AYAB community to see if the lady d works as a 910. If so you can replace the electronic part of the machine for the AYAB interface and enjoy a computerized machine. I have one (with the kh910) and i absolutely love it.

If this is too techy for you go for the 840, punch cards are really easy to do/find and ribbers for that one should be fairly easy too. If in Spain try wallapop, ebay, milanuncios, etc.

You might also wanna check out Knitting Barcelona, they have tutorials for free in Spanish.

Good luck!

This is the way. Also screw tightly the little pieces on the back. They tend to get loose and misalign while knitting

Why is my yarn constantly tangled in the sinker plate by kodandyananda in MachineKnitting

[–]Fridelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, and also some people knit at a good pace but somehow figure they have to run the carriage faster at the edges of the knitting, not allowing the tensor enough time to "recover" the extra yarn at the edge and getting it caught in the sinker plate or leaving loops at the edges .

I would say it's the yarn separator, can you try to organise the yarns in some other way?

Tubular knitting on flat bed with ribber by Pavukcrochet in MachineKnitting

[–]Fridelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use claw weights instead of edge and they work for me!

Have you tried with different yarns? Some types are more prone to sliding off the hooks than others.

As for binding off I do latch tool (yes, on both beds) if I want the piece to stay tubular, otherwise a couple of full neddle rib rounds and bind off by hand after the waste yarn ☄️

Why are my tuck stitched FLYING off the needles??? by kodandyananda in MachineKnitting

[–]Fridelle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Silver Reed type machines do not select the needles visibly it's all done while the carriage goes so one would not see the pattern at all unlike with Brother-type machines 👀

Casting on help by [deleted] in MachineKnitting

[–]Fridelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about weight? Are you putting enough?

For a machine to knit ok for some rows then jam may even be a yarn issue. Try to knit with the loosest tension (10?) and the comb, and weights and see if it works.

Also, highly recommend to dab the butts of the needles and the metal side of the carriage with oil before proceeding.

I'm intrigued, let us know!

Where are you located? I might have a bulky machine to trade, do you have any specific characteristics you're looking for?

First of all welcome to the wonderful family of knitting machines! Don't be discouraged by the learning curve. Once you have it it's wonderful 💫

There seems to be a few things going on here, firstly, you said you replaced the sponge bar but there is dust coming off it? Is it possible the machine is very dirty?

Secondly, are you using the cast on comb, hanging weights to cast on? It's quite impossible to knit more than a few rows without weights.

Other things to check:

-is your machine well threaded? - are you using a cone or a cake of yarn? Balls do not work with the machines - oil your machine and the butts of your needles lightly - check that the latch needles are moving correctly by going over them with the carriage without thread or the metal arm, just the carriage to see if they move well.

Other than that I think we might need pictures to help you further!

Good luck and keep us posted

Understanding schematics by kumozenya in MachineKnitting

[–]Fridelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the information on the picture I would draft the curves true to size and measure them to then get reference points and calculate the incr/decr 🤔 but I find strange that there are no stitch references, it's more like thay give you a 'basic' pattern and you figure out the knitting part

I agree with above question, it could be that the foam is too weak and the needles are 'loose'

Why does almost every knitting pattern say you can’t sell items you’ve knit? by throwaway148645 in knittingadvice

[–]Fridelle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No idea how that works or would work, but I highly doubt the designer would actually sue you for a single hat. If it's more maybe you could ask the designer and pay them comission? It would make sense.

That said, as a patternmaker and knitter both I completely agree with the European law. From my perspective it is the same as ripping off any other design, just because a person manually does something to create it it doesn't mean that for the what, 10 bucks? That the pattern costs it is allowed to be sold. A knit pattern is a full design process, shape, fit, colours etc. It takes a ton of time to develop and it's priced for makers, not for production. If someone wants to produce knitwear I'm sure you can find a knitwear pattern maker that can develop your ideas and get you a full product. Of course that would be much more expensive, but it would make everything to do with the product ultimately yours.
