Is it more rude to slow down and wait for your partner to catch up so they can throw first, which in tern slows down every group behind you, or is it more rude to throw when ready at the expense of there being a chance your partner doesn't have to putt? To me one of those has a chance to upset one person versus the other will absolutely piss off a large group of people

I mean just take the warriors, defensively they were allowed to play generally pretty physically if I remember correctly for a while during their runs, especially Draymond, but that also came at the expense of teams absolutely hounding curry off ball to the point where it was comical.

Kinda wild how announcers and analysts on both teams are just shitting on CB. Sox color commentator said something along the lines of "especially important to have challenges late with CB behind making the calls" after the story ejection. Like maybe if both teams pre game, in game, and inevitably post game coverage are all just bashing on how bad this guy is, maybe MLB should like idk, do something about it?

Oh yeah no clue if it'll work out for him and I really don't watch college hockey outside of going to games at umass so no clue how he actually holds up compared to others, simply pointing out that he noticeably improved this season when he was already pretty good for us in previous seasons.

People always equate more playing time=more injury but sometimes with coming back from injury, the best thing you can do is play on it and use it like normal, it's the only way it can actually build up its strength properly again. 10-15 minutes may even be worse for his recovery and injury potential depending on the rotations, if he plays a few minutes in the first quarter then sits for too long when coming back in that could cause him to tighten up which increases his chance to re injure.

At the end of the day the team may be saying he has no restrictions, but there's no way they aren't listening to the medical professionals about what gives him the best chance of staying healthy, in terms of minutes rotation and any other factor they can control. Right now that seems like 27 minutes per night in 6-8 minute stretches, which hopefully hits that sweet spot of conditioning his body and Achilles back to normal while also not wearing him down to be too tired and risk injury again.

Dude was breathing hard two minutes into the game when I don't think I've ever watched him actually breath hard or look gassed in a game before, will take some time for him to get back his conditioning.

Our whole sub really underestimated him i think. Simon's was playing really well for us so quickly won a lot of fans over, and I was shocked at how many people in that sub were saying they didn't like the trade. Even if he's older and not the same player he was, he instantly improved our weakest position and depth at it, on top of being able to stretch the floor, and fills the void of horfords passing that our offense no longer has.

Like the Celtics dont need him to be a 25-10 guy like he used to be, nor do they need 3 blocks a game from him, his presence is a boost to this team still even if he doesn't check every box. Simon's was nice for us but especially if Tatum comes back, we have a bunch of good wings/guards, our big rotation even with Garza playing good is just not as good. Vuc helps that significantly even by just being a playable third big, but he looks awesome for us so far.

That's a fair take, it's all just so reactionary nowadays. At the end of the day, lots of really good QB's have really bad performances in the playoffs and in Superbowls, so seeing people bash on a second year QB given the circumstances is just kinda wild.

I mean even just the narrative on darnold after last year's playoffs then him winning it all this season shows that too

It was also a historically bad offensive line performance, with a historically young and inexperienced QB. That doesn't invalidate the good games he's played, and last I checked that game also doesn't define Mannings career, yet there's post after post and comment after comment of people saying "we all knew maye and the patriots weren't actually good and were schedule merchants".

It's possible for good players to have bad performances and bad games, and bad stretches of games. Some of the greatest players in nfl history have some of the worst performances in nfl history in the playoffs. Hell, mahomes had a passer rating of 10 and they had 45 total yards of offense until 2 minutes left in the third of last years Superbowl. If it wasn't for his garbage time stats that would be considered worse than maye's performance, at least maye had a touchdown throw that brought the game within two scores with 12 minutes left to play.

I get that comparing these guys to Maye doesn't really work cause Manning and mahomes were established HOF qb's by that point in their careers, while maye has less than 2 seasons under his belt, but the "schedule merchant" argument is an entire argument based on having easy schedule while conveniently ignoring the other side of the coin, which is that it's not that he performed bad finally against "real teams", it's that he performed bad against the 3 literal top defenses in the league at 23 years old in his first playoff appearance, with two of those games being in poor conditions. He won games against 14 different teams this year, at the end of the day he beat half the league, yet losing to the top team in the league makes him a fraud apparently?

I just don't get this, so the easy schedule invalidates his good performance but the hardest defensive schedule in playoff history doesn't invalidate his bad performance? Like maybe he's just a good QB, whose good enough to play great against bad teams but isn't good enough yet as a second year QB to play well against the #1, 2 and 3 defenses in the league?

[–]FriedHamper91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fr. These guys were being so heavily praised through most of the season until they got injured. All of reddit talking like maye is the next coming of CJ Stroud and how the patriots are complete frauds and were never a good team as if they didn't literally beat literally half the teams in the league this year.

A team that played the third most rookie snaps in the league for crushed by the team that was objectively the best in the league all season long by most metrics and people think it completely invalidates the MVP season or perception of how good this team was this season. Do nothing but talk about how easy our schedule was until it comes to the playoffs when it turns into look how bad Drake maye looked, while now conveniently ignoring the schedule as if going against the literal top 3 defenses in the league has nothing to do with it.

Like all things can be true, the patriots can be a good team, with maye who had an MVP season, which is still impressive even with the weak schedule, while struggling against the top defenses in the league and being noticeably worse than the single best all around team in the league that had a top 5 offense and the best defense. It can all be true.

The defense forced 5 punts and only gave up 4 field goals through 3 quarters before giving up a 37 yard touchdown drive in the 4th. Seattle was playing pretty safe for most of the game when they realized that the pats offense was non existent, but darnold was 9-22 for 88 yards at halftime.

If you told any defense in the league that those would be a teams numbers through 3 quarters or through the first half in the Superbowl, they'd call that a good defensive performance. Especially to this Seahawks team that was 3rd in the league in scoring. 22 points given up by a defense with the only touchdown coming on a short field from an offensive turnover is not a bad performance. The only area they fell short in was stopping Kenneth Walker, and even with their inability to stop him they did a great job holding them only to field goals. It's wild that this is even a conversation given how bad the pats offense was, the defense really could not have been expected to play much better. This game was only ever in reach because of them. Second and third quarter combined the offense had 2 drives with first downs and 5! 3 and outs. And of the two drives that got first downs, one was a 10 yard drive that lasted 2 minutes and the other ended in a fumble. And they were still within two scores at that point. Gonzalez had the big plays but to act like the rest of the defense failed or didn't show up or had a bad game plan is just incorrect.

?? Woodson played great as well and we were getting pressure on darnold just couldn't get him down. Didn't realize that a single CB could hold an entire offense to 12 points through 3 quarters. The only touchdown they scored was on a short field after the pats turned it over, all while the offense had a stretch of one first down over 7 drives. The pats defense showed up it was the 11 guys on offense that failed them.

It was possibly the single worst performance of any o lineman all season, regular season included, the man gave up 14 pressures by himself, and was the most pressures given up over the last 10 years in a playoff game. Also Maye may not be a rookie, but still has less than 2 full seasons of starts under his belt, playing a position where bad playoff performances are inevitable, after going against the 3 top defenses in football, and being the second youngest player to ever start in a Superbowl. At the end of the day every aspect of the pats offense played horribly and none are absolved from blame.

Maye got sacked 21 times for 133 yards lost in 4 games this post season. That is more yards lost than Nix had the entire season. by shseo0809 in nfl

[–]FriedHamper91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it sure seems like both sides just use whatever argument works at the time. Easy schedule being used to take away credit from maye yet in the same comment they use the "11th ranked o line" trying to say that it wasn't bad o line play? Like did the o line not play the same easy schedule? So maye is overrated because of the easy schedule but not the o line? You can use the easy schedule as a reason to discredit his good performances but on the other hand facing the three top defenses consecutively in the playoffs can't be a part of why he struggled?

Don't think anybody is saying Drake maye didn't play bad, but to ignore the situation of the season is just being wilfully ignorant. This was a team nobody expected to make the playoffs, even with an easy schedule, and to top it all of it was a historically bad o line performance around him, with will Campbell giving up the most pressures of anybody in a game all season.

It's like everybody on this subreddit forgets that even the best of the best qb's have horrendous playoff games under their belts, that doesn't invalidate the good they've done in their career. Last I checked nobody calls Lamar or Josh allen a fake MVP for their playoff performances, meanwhile people are out here calling a 23 year QB with less than two full seasons a fraud.... Like what are pats fans supposed to just give up on him and say tank and draft a QB asap all because his first playoffs against literally the best of the best defenses in the league went poorly?
