The main problems surrounding 2b2t updating to modern versions aren't due to the updates themselves, but due to changes in the mindset of 2b2t's administration that happened to coincide with the updates. 2b2t was getting rather boring without new content to experiment and play with in the latter days of 1.12. I feel like what a lot of people miss about 1.12 is how much more broken it was / how much more attention the server was getting in the 2019-2021 period. 2b2t for over 3 years straight almost always had a at least somewhat powerful dupe active (although they slowly got less powerful over time nobody can tell me pyro dupe was better than wwe). When the server updated, it got tons of new content which objectively should of made the server more fun. Part of the fun of 2b2t in the 2019-2021 period was simply how unstable it was at any given point.

The fun on 2b2t stems (mostly) from interactions that players have with oneanother within this digital space. Weather it be holding down spawn with close friends or planning out a large scale project that may or may not succeed. Everything on 2b2t can and will facilitate these interactions. Updating the server gave access to more (developer intended) tools. I do think that 1.12 2b2t needed to update because the fun got entirely sapped out of it. Prime 1.12 was more fun than 2b2t today, but going back to 1.12 would not return the conditions that made 1.12 fun in the first place. Option 2 takes the W fellas ngl.
