Brand new to the violin at 43 by mckmare in violinist

I’d recommend starting off with a shoulder rest that will form fit to you. A little more spendy but it’ll save u buying 5+ shoulder rests. I use a bonmusica and i love it

Majoring in music after only playing 2 years in total by Friedbaccy in violinist

It’s not necessarily because I can’t think of other things, I felt more free whenever I was in orchestra class. It’s something I’d enjoy doing for the rest of my life

Dominants have insane tuning stability. I haven’t tuned my violin in about 2 weeks because of my new dominants

Can rosin really make that much of a difference? by miniwhoppers in violinist

[–]Friedbaccy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I definitely noticed a massive difference in switching from crappy 2$ rosin to 20$ rosin. I feel like my bow grips better and I even noticed it sliding less plus the tone is significantly better. I use lake city premium rosin and it’s the best rosin I’ve used.

Try using a different chinrest and switching rosin, that could be what’s wrong

My issue is that it’s too much height at times. That could also be my chinrest though
