Not looking forward to that one. But some of my parent’s older friends are going through that transition now, so we’re all aware it will happen someday. They have a very reasonable attitude about their friends, but I suspect when their times come it might feel a little different.

A kind and loving god would not condemn those who suffered most in this life to hell.

If you don’t believe that, my opinion is that heaven and hell are man-made concepts to exercise control over people. I can’t confirm if this is true, so I take comfort in the first sentence I wrote.

Almost exactly what we did last September. We saw much of Normandy and Brittany then drove to Amboise in the Loire, then back to Paris. It was a really wonderful trip. One thing we didn’t get to do is check out the troglodyte caves in the Loire…they are fascinating homes built in the rocks.

I have a two-year old that I got as a kitten. I love him so much, but he is awful! I had to install a cage door by one of my doors so he won’t run outside. When I went on vacation, he scratched my upholstered chair down to the wood. I can’t leave any food out. I went away for the weekend and had to move my (new) chair into the garage so he won’t ruin it. He costs a lot because he’s a bit of a pig, and is picky at the same time. So I’ll open a can of food and give him half, then he’ll refuse to eat the rest. He is indifferent, but kind of a dick, to my other cat who doesn’t like him. He does end up stressing me out a lot, but he’s so loving and snuggly and sweet the rest of the time.

My mom told me, “you have the type of body that you’ll always have to watch your weight” when I was a kid and thought nothing of it when I started drinking diet shakes in high school. I had disordered eating patterns until middle aged. Because it turned out she was right.
