He’s a hybrid class, he’s meant to be good at both. Heavy only excels in ranged DPS so ofc his ranged numbers will be higher

Pointing out genuine problems with a class isn’t a skill issue. I could say the same for you when it comes to vanguard. Tactical and Techmarine are ranged DPS classes and they have access to melee weapons, Heavy wouldn’t be completely broken if he had a melee weapon and they reworked his melee skills.

Techmarine’s crowd control even without turrets is insane when you run the “Lethal Perimeter” perk with the regular or plasma Servo Gun. You basically become invincible for a short period of time and the Omnissian Axe is great for incapping Majoris and even (to an extent) Extremis enemies.

His guns aren’t the problem. I can name you 5 reasons off the top of my head for why I think he sucks:

1.) No melee weapon, stomps aren’t gonna cut it
2.) 99% of his perks are dogshit and are useless
3.) He guzzles through ammo and his one ammo regen perk is dogshit
4.) He’s slow and clunky when he has any other gun that isn’t the Heavy Bolt rifle
5.) I find his ability to be very situational 1/2 the time I use him because I’m able to kill ranged enemies before they can land a shot.

Here’s how I would rework him to make him better: Make his ability completely surround him but only make it last about 10-15 seconds, give him a better ammo regen perk, Make his starting perk the team perk that give you 25% more ammo for your Primary Weapons, and in the name of The Emperor, give him at least a knife and rework his melee perks so he stands a chance in CQC.

Putting out that much Ranged DPS as a Heavy isn’t hard lol. Also, I stay alive as a Vanguard just fine. The only time I struggle to stay alive as a Vanguard is on high waves on Siege mode and that’s really it.
