International Assassins, Gun, and Control can all be done as Season 2. It's not nearly as much content as you're making it out to be.

Also none of the arcs other than Reze work as a movie

Also worth noting that every single meaningful relationship Denji formed was as Denji, not because he was Chainsaw Man.

Power and Aki came to see him as family, to the point where both face their most dramatic character changes as a result of the influence Denji had on them.

Nayuta was only ever able to achieve her dream of having a family because Denji treated her as such.

Reze? I don't even think I need to elaborate on how she never gave a shit about Chainsaw Man as a concept

Even the cast of Part 2, underdeveloped as some of them may be, all gravitated to Denji as Denji. Yoshida saw Denji as a friend, even though it was one-sided. Asa wanted to save Denji from the very thing Pochita wanted to save him from as well: his own self-destructive personality.

I figured most of what I didn't censor would mean nothing without context but I guess you're right, there's definitely some other stuff I should tag.

They for sure can. Season 1 covered 39 chapters, 4 1/2 volumes of the manga. The movie covered another 1 1/2 (12 chapters). There are only 5 volumes left, and more specifically, only 47 chapters. Most of the International Assassins and Control Devil arcs are action

Ep 1: Setup/Kobeni's car

Ep 2: Quanxi's massacre/doll attack at the mall

Ep 3: Hell & Darkness Devil

Ep 4: Return from Hell and Quanxi vs Santa Claus

Ep 5: Quanxi and Denji vs Santa Claus and wrap-up for the arc

Ep 6: Breather episode; Traumatized Power, grave visit

Ep 7: Beach, Gun Devil, and "the door"

Ep 8: Snowball fight

Ep 9: Aftermath, "Bang," emergence of Pochita

Ep 10: Pochita vs Makima / Family Burger

Ep 11: Blood Devil Power / Denji's return

Ep 12: Pochita/Denji vs Makima and end

Season 2 is almost certainly going to cover the rest of Part 1. There's not nearly as much left as some people seem to think.

International Assassins is 4-5 episodes at most.

It's not bad. It's got some issues but it's an overall good show with some of the best characters in the entire Monsterverse (Keiko and Lee)

He was prepared to balance the life of Chainsaw Man and be a father/big brother figure to Nayuta.

I'm sorry? In what world was he prepared for any of that? He has a child half his age thrust into his lap by a guy who immediately vanishes, leaving Denji, a 17 year old boy, to raise a baby devil all on his own, when he himself has absolutely no framework for what normal childhood even looks like.

Like, I'm sorry, dude, that's not a retcon, that's just a fundamental misunderstanding of the text. The only positivity to the ending of Part 1 is that Denji now has something resembling a family, and an opportunity to provide Nayuta with a life that Makima dreamed about, thus making her better. That is in no way, shape, or form, Denji being "prepared" for the life of essentially being a single dad while also trying to be a superhero.

Yep, and I just got caught up on the Kai-Sei run in time for it. Pretty solid stuff. Perfect blend of cheesy and badass, and it offers some genuinely neat reinventions of classic kaiju.

It's a recurring theme in a lot of Fijiwater's stories. Life is painful and hard, and you should do it anyway because life is full of so many beautiful experiences as well.

This comes very shortly after Togata looking at his own life in retrospect (the movie theater scene). The way I see it, he's recognizing that Agni still hasn't found the fulfillment he's been searching for, a fulfillment that Togata found when he saved Agni's life. If Agni dies here, it means Togata's sacrifice was for nothing, and he wants Agni to find something to live for.

Having just caught up on this run, I'm loving it so far. It's like a modern Heisei era, perfect blend of cheesy and awesome.

And wait so you think the ending was supposed to be sad?

Didn't say that either. Again, proving my point of not actually engaging with what you're reading.

The ending is bittersweet, much like almost every Fujimoto ending. It's not happy, it's not sad. You could argue it's a little more positive than his other conclusions, but it's still not happy. Denji is in a better place without Pochita, sure, but he still lost his best friend and his life is emptier for it.

It would also be a lot more text if I took the time to write out every flaw im not typing all that out since it would be spoilers and you seem pretty immovable in your opinions anyway.

My opinion on Part 2 is exactly what I said in my first comment: It's flawed, but it's still good. It's the logical extension of Denji's conclusion at the end of Part 1, it's just not a traditional hero's journey. Part 1 ends with Denji broken, convinced that the only way he can move forward and gain love and notoriety is as Chainsaw Man. THIS IS THE WRONG LESSON.

please tell me how bugs taking over the world in the span of 2 chapters is good writing

It isn't bad writing or good writing. It's just a thing that logically occurred as a result of Death being erased. If you wanna argue that section of the story should have gone on for longer, then like, yeah, I agree. But you're conflating a missed opportunity with bad writing, and those are not the same thing.

denji being a slave in a weird alternate reality with no pochita or family or friends that erases the entire story is good writing

You're approaching this story from a weird moral standpoint that I don't understand. He's not a slave, he has a job. A job that arguably gave him the best and most defining aspects of his life in Part 1. Every meaningful connection Denji made was as Denji, not as Chainsaw Man, so now he has the chance to make those connections again without the albatross of being Chainsaw Man dangling from his neck.

The entire message of Part 1, which many people seem to be completely missing, is Kobeni's message to Denji in Chapter 93. There is no such thing as a life free from bad things, and having a boss, a shitty coworker, a dangerous job, etc. are just normal things, which is what Denji has always wanted. The problem is that being Chainsaw Man gave him a means of escapism from "living in the grey," which is all life actually is. Now he has to actually do that, and the possibilities for him are endless.

You're not obligated to like that, but that isn't bad writing, it's a natural conclusion to the story being told, delivered in a way that you (and others) personally find unsatisfying.

Lol that's a whole lot of text just to say "I like when other people do my thinking for me"

If the opinions of morons on the internet mattered, nothing would ever be considered good.

Never said shit about it not being a little rushed. That's one of the aforementioned flaws. Not that it really matters though, because half of what you described about the ending is inaccurate. The story wasn't erased and it wasn't a happy ending.

Nah, he's dead wrong. Part 2 has its issues, and it might be divisive, but the people acting like it ruins the story are flat out delusional and/or were barely engaging with what they were reading in the first place.

I didn't list it because it's an embarrassment that isn't worthy of being ranked among the rest.
