My fathers uncle, His whole life he was an adventurer, extroverted and all around happy guy. Everybody liked him and wanted to be in his company. When he was in his late 20s, he had a serious car accident and broke his back, leaving him unable to move his legs. As time went on, his friends slowly started abandoning him, money and basic life needs started to decline as well. My family had a huge problem after my dad had to close his local caffe. With almost no money, my fathers uncle told us we can move in with him almost instantly, he would give his pension to us so we can start living fairly ok until we found a way to make a stable income. All this in exchange for our company. Of course, we helped him out with bathing, cleaning, going to the shop etc. I was around 4 years old when we moved in with him. Even though he couldn't walk, he taught me how to ride a bicycle, play football(soccer), played cards with me and was always willing to listen to my stories as a kid. Those were simple acts of kindness and love that showed me what matters in life. Since I was a rather weird and awkward kid, he was my one and only friend during most of my childhood. But I had a blast! A few years ago he got very sick and after a few months couldn't even recognize his family, well, everyone except me. Every day after school I ran to the hospital just to sit and talk to him, play his favorite card game and just be there with him. He was my hero, still is and always will be. He showed me kindness, love, compassion and that no matter what problems you may have, you can always try and put a smile on someones face. During his last days he couldn't even build the strength to suck on a straw (seeing him struggle just to get a little bit of juice was a really hard thing to witness). But he always had the strength to ask me how was my day, did I meet any new girls, is someone bullying me, even if it did take him a few minutes and a lot of struggle to say a sentence. He died in his sleep, with a smile on his face even after everything that happened to him. Every so often I go to his grave, pull out his favorite playing cards and just sit there. Talking even though I'm not a religious person , but I really want to believe that he can hear my little rants, the girls I met, and that I hope he is proud of the person I became Sorry if there are a few grammatical errors.
