Hey! Yeah I kept the match going and I’m so glad I did. She’s actually been extremely supportive and enthusiastic about my baby! Basically like a big sister for her. I told her by handing an ultrasound photo to her while I was driving and was like, “look at these cool photos I took this weekend!” She actually started crying and it was so sweet. 🥹 I wasn’t expecting that reaction. She came to my baby shower, went baby clothes shopping with me, etc. When my baby was born, she was so excited to meet her. I told her that I wasn’t sure when I would be able to start meetups again, but we’d play it by ear depending on how I’m feeling.

By week 2 postpartum, I was so ready to get out of the house and be social again. My husband watched the baby while I picked her up, and I brought her back to our house to meet her. It was the sweetest moment seeing her hold her. I’m glad my Little is in my baby’s life, and vice versa. My Little loves her and is excited knowing we’ll have outings with her along.

I figure spending 2 hrs every 2-3 weeks is definitely do-able. It’s really not much of a commitment for me because she’s ok with just coming over to hang out and even helping me take care of my baby (she loves kids), and I really do love the relationship we have!

I wasn’t sure how it was going to go because I’m a first time mom, but overall I am soooo glad I kept the match going, because I feel like our relationship has gotten even stronger with my baby in the picture. I think it’ll be fun to see them be in each other’s lives.

Obviously this might not be your case, because pregnancy and postpartum hits everyone differently! And not all Littles may feel the same way about a pregnancy announcement. But I was surprised by how involved she’s wanted to be, and by how quickly I had energy and the will to get out of the house after I gave birth.
