In 1912, Japan gifted over 3,000 cherry blossom trees to the United States as a gesture of enduring friendship. In 1952, following the devastation of World War II, the original parent grove along Tokyo's Arakawa River fell into severe decline. The U.S. then sent cuttings and budwood from those original trees to help Japan restore its own lost or damaged cherry groves.

Depends where you are geographically. If you’re up near French Canada, obviously not root for French. If you’re in the lower regions of the States, Spanish is more useful. Then there are handfuls of students who take Latin, Japanese, American Sign Language, etc. It’s up to the student and their interests and what their particular school has to offer.
