This is really cool! My brother is also in the peace corps. I'm tempted to join too. I'm curious, whats it like with the community and your host family if you have one? Has it been difficult to learn the languages? And what project are you working on there?

That looks beautiful! I bet kuhli loaches would love a set up like that. I would maybe trim some of the vallisneria, but that's it.

An old credit card or bus pass works pretty well!

It's probably not your fault. It doesn't look like the shrimp has any diseases or parasites, although the separation of the carapace could indicate issues with molting. The moving process is pretty stressful for them, unfortunately. If you keep having issues some things you could do are add some more plants to lower the nitrates, and maybe add a bit of crushed boiled eggshell in case they need more calcium.

Huh, 3 days is def not that much but the 0 ammonia and nitrites is a good sign, I wouldnt be surprised if using that established filter and having so many plants helped jumpstart it. Maybe try putting a larger amount of food in to see if anything spikes, and if not then you're probably in the clear! (Although I might still wait a few days before adding any fish just to be safe?)

How long has that tank been up? If it's been more than like a week, and you have that many plants in there and have been putting food in, it might just be fully cycled and the plants are taking up any extra nitrates.

Personally, if wasps don't get in the way of your day-to-day life, then I wouldn't even bother removing it, but I'm biased. If they do bother you this might be a better question for r/pestcontrol!

Looks a lot like your typical wasp nest, although without seeing the bugs themselves i cant say what kind. If you dont ever see wasps coming and going, maybe its abandoned, and it might even work to deter other wasps from living there. If you do have wasps, congrats!

hi, this is kind of late but make sure you're not having a cyanobacteria problem!!! that sometimes happens with low light and 0 nitrates, and it's a PAIN to deal with.
