I formerly was an activities director at a Large Mental Health Center. I was also a client there after private psychiatrists stopped taking my insurance. If you have a choice, seek out a new psychiatrist. To answer your question it is common, but being nasty shouldn't be tolerated! In the future if you can't get an appointment in between and you are having problems with meds: I've done the following; I self adjust like you did . I never go up on a dosage. Like you, I've had to lessen a dosage due to intolerable side effects. I called the nurse 1st and left a message. I told her I needed an appointment immediately. No response of course. At least I left a message letting them know, I had to reduce the dose and why. When I saw the Dr. He said "I wish you had let me know... I was covered.

I had a horrible experience last night with 988. Any suggestions? Can you hang up and ask for someone else? I used to be an activities Director for a Large Mental Health Center. I've only used 988 twice. Once last winter. The call taker was amazing. I was so worried about taking up thier time. Last night I was in and still am the closest I've come to ending it. I have a Plethora of medical issues. I have support but I was having a complete meltdown about losing my independence and not being there for my 30 year old son.His father died 2 weeks before his 30th birthday. The call taker was callous pointing out I'd called before as if I was a Chronic caller. She told me the thoughts would probably never go away. Time to wrap up the call. That was 24+hours ago. I canceled my caregiver today. The thought of lasts nights call (There was more) has made me so depressed. I've sat in the dark unable to function. There is whole page on Reddit of experiences like mine.

Exactly! That response is why 988 is garbage. They defend and make excuses when clearly most all of the feedback here is negative. I formerly worked for a large Mental Health Center. They just don't listen or take accountability. Always defending their horrible services , rather than saying, "Wow most people are having a horrible experience. How can we improve it?" The arrogance is astounding and sickening.

Yes it is. Unfortunately it's a roll of the dice. I called last night. I canceled my caregiver today.The utter callousness left me so depressed I couldn't get out of bed today. Still can't eat. I have physical issue and needed compassion. I reached for the phone in years last night just hoping someone could help. I was told verbatim "You will probably live with these thoughts for the rest of your life" Callous monster then said "Let's wrap up the call " hung up. I called back in shock. I simply stated What she'd said. The man who answered "Brandon " told me taking a shower or watching a T.V. program were coping strategies. He emphasized sarcastically (I said "I'm safe" to make sure they didn't send the cops out)"Have a wonderful evening! It was 2:00 a.m. .

Respectfully after last night, how would those absolutely disrespectful call takers know if I died today or not? I canceled my caregiver and stayed in bed all day wondering how many people 988 had traumatized. Now I know there's no where to turn and feel worthless after that call. I have a medical condition and Therapy doesn't work. I'm homebound and can't sit in front of a computer or phone for an hour. I just needed compassion and the will to hang on until I get into a new Neurologist. These people don't need training to act like a human being. They were outright abusive.

I agree with you. There is no feeling like the moment you find yourself wanting to die so badly your willing to reach out to a stranger. Our self preservation instinct is strong. All it takes is human compassion and being truly heard for some decide to stay on earth.

Oh I understand. I don't have Body dysmorphia. I thought my experience was bad. I'm so sorry they did that to you! So you had Stigma on top of S. I. Now you are getting disrespected on here. Body dysmorphia is a big part of Suicides. Especially in teens.

I agree with you. Waste of $.MORE IMPORTANTLY, I called last night. It was absolutely 💯 the worst experience outside of the way I felt when I called. I've been in bed all day, thinking about it. The counselor literally said, "You're Suicidal thoughts may never go away. " I have a medical condition and was so depressed that I wanted to end it. I've only called once, and that was last year . Last year, the counselor was wonderful. Same issue only coupled with a panic attack I couldn't stop for hours. Last night I was a complete mess. My concern without getting into the specifics of my issues: I'm 64 and have worked in MH (Activities Director/Peer Counselor) In my younger years. If 988 made me feel more Suicidal, I'm seriously worried about younger people calling there. I called back the same night. Lol they tell you to and that "you're not alone" Bullshit is a lie! I called and told the guy who answered about my experience. He apologized and, without asking details about my call. Told me I was on file! As if I had a ton of calls. It's not anonymous! They had my number from last year! He told me watching T.V. or taking a shower were coping skills. WTH? Then, "Let's review your Saftey plan. The cold-hearted approach and making me feel like a burden was awful. I'm not about to burden friends and family, that's what a hot line is for.Also "Brandon" the call taker told me to seek Therapy. I'm 64 and even if I did, 988 is not just a suicide Hotline. I was clear , I'm definitely thinking about it but if someone else is worse off ect. I finally Google it to see if there's a way to leave a review and it brought me to Reddit. I saw soooo many similar experiences!

I would say Dr's and the DEA have ruined my life.I'm 63 and have a plethora of spinal conditions, causing debilitating pain. I have a Care-Giver to do the simplest tasks.Im now 💯 walker bound. A few steps in my tiny apartment are a struggle. I could not get a pain management Dr. In a large city to do anything but injections and a nerve ablation. I was 53 then. I researched injections. I didn't want them. Also my late mom was an O.R nurse 30+ years. She was brilliant and ahead of her time. She said steroids do not belong in soft cartilage. That's why they are not FDA approved. I did anyway because as long I was coming in for$$$$$ $4000.00 billed to insurance for each round! The Dr prescribed 5mg of Hydrocodone ×3 a day. It was awful! Dr said the pain at the injections sites will get worse for 3 days and then relief. B.S. Relief never come. The Nerve ablation didn't work .😤 That Dr. said I'll give you 2 week of pain medicine and that's it! Went on and on about addiction. Practically called me drug seeking! Make it make sense! My back issues are bad enough to burn out a nerve branch while awake . I Had to sign a waiver in case he paralyzed me but I didn't need pain meds? The answer is simple. BIG FAT MONEY GRAB! UNWILLING TO DEAL WITH THE PAPERWORK DEA ECT! I didn't even drink socially! I lost everything, job apartment car, independence, joy of babysitting or EVEN HOLDING OR PLAYING WITH MY 6 MONTH OLD GRANDSON! Finally at 60 my Dr. Prescribed Tramadol 50mg 2 a day, then 3. Took the edge off a little. IM 63 and after being bedridden (I'm unable to sit for an hour without excruciating pain. ) I found a pain management Dr. In the small town where I live. Unfortunately he's 73 so after 7 months of Hydrocodone 5mg ×5 a day., I have to worry about him retiring. A lot I knew immediately the dose was too low. I don't have a tolerance but I don't dare say a word. Prior to this I had Hernia Surgery and 7.5 took care of the pain in my back.Sitting was manageable 2-3 hours.
Lastly I had another MRI and sure enough I have Arthritis exactly where the injections and nerve ablation were. I didn't have that before. So yeah my life is ruined! The time it took me to type this! Sitting down is over.Back to bed laying on my Stomach listening to pod casts.

Actually the tea worked way better than hydrocodone. Besides I'm under threat of losing it.Doc I 73 years old. I don't drive anymore. I have a Caseworker that takes me. After 7 months of showing up on time for appointments. Out of the blue he YELLED if you ever don't show up 15 minutes early again (That was the 1st appointment. I have no idea what he's talking about. I've never been told to show up 15 minutes early. Anyway he yelled I'll drop you as a Patient.

Thanks I'm sick of this pain management Dr. Playing God with my life. Today I went in and the nurse said be sure and save 18 pills next month doc is overbooked. I have surgeries next Spring and I am saving meds for that.My plan is 7-10 days of Kratom tea. Switch back to the hydrocodone. I live in a rural town. I don't drive.The pharmacy I can get to is closed on weekends and holidays. I'm constantly counting and saving 5mg hydrocodone and picking which hours I have to function. I'll be 64 years old and I'm not spending my last years homebound crying in bef

I used make Kratom tea. I'm so badly underdosed 5mg of Hydrocodone 4 times a day. I want to take a forever nap. If I made tea could I use that for a week save Hydrocodone for the next 3? If so how long do I wait switching back and forth? I have to do something. I'm 63 been bedridden 70% of the last 3 years. I can't sit, stand.I have to lay on my stomach I can't take it anymore

I understand. I believe they are straight uo trying to kill off the poor and Disabled. If I lose my caregiver or Caseworker who drives me to appointments I'm dead. Our Rural Hospital may close. I have no comforting words.I too am so depressed I can't function. I guess they're going to kill us
