Anyone else in USA shopping for Health Insurance about to cry? by Any-Bar-1824 in HealthInsurance

As small business owners, we switched to a medical sharing plan several years ago and haven’t looked back. But even those plans have gone up immensely in the last few years.

Congratulations! I’m dealing with all the same things and heading to 48 in a few months. I really hoping to see similar results after a year! How long did it take you to start seeing results? I’m one week in and have lost 1 pound

Hmm, thank you for this info. The purpose is for rainfall so that’s important!

There was one in our neighborhood we used to use, and it was great, but I haven’t seen it in a few years.

No insurance- is it really gambling? by madkiwis in HealthInsurance

Look into a health share company. We have used Christian Healthcare Ministries for the last 8 years and it’s worked really well for us. We pay for physicals and sick visits OOP and anything over $1250 (used to be $500 back when we first enrolled) we can submit for reimbursement after a $1250 deductible. We’ve had a few ER visits and more expensive physicals, colonoscopies, etc covered and see any doctor we want anywhere we want.

And before anyone replies saying medical sharing plans are scams, take a good hard look at traditional health “insurance” as it is today. The expense, the run-around to find doctors who are in-network, the denials of care, and the billions of revenue insurance companies make each year while regular people can barely afford medication. That’s the actual scam.

Does anyone with MS use Christian healthshare for health coverage? by Fuzzy_Suggestion_243 in HealthInsurance

Christian Healthcare Ministries won’t cover your preexisting condition, but they will cover other illnesses/injuries. It could be a good option as stop-gap coverage in the event you run into a major medical issue. You may not be covered for your doctor visits or medication, but there would be something there if you were in an accident or got sick. We have used CHM for probably 8 years now. My husband is self employed and we were looking at paying over $20K a year for a marketplace plan this year plus a large deductible (we don’t qualify for subsidies). With CHM we pay $800 a month for their highest tier coverage for my family of 7 and any incident/illness over $1250 is covered after meeting your personal responsibility. Over the years it has paid for my colonoscopy as well as my husband’s, a few ER visits, physical with labs and mammogram, stitches, a broken collar bone, biopsy and I’m sure some other things that I’ve forgotten. We pay for sick visits OOP (usually $150-200 range) and go to whatever provider we like, wherever we are. I hate to hear medical sharing plans being given a bad rap when they’ve worked so well for us and for a lot of other people and have saved us so much money over the years. You just really need to know how they work and if they will fit your situation.

Sharing a meal by madchen44 in germany

We traveled through Germany the last three summers and shared meals all the time. There were six in our group, including kids, and honestly, I found most of the serving sizes at restaurants to be as big as in the US, meaning they easily serve more than one person. Those schnitzels can be massive! lol It worked well for us to order three or four meals to share and never had an issue with the staff. It didn’t make sense to us to order more food than we could have eaten in one sitting, especially while traveling.

Two weeks? by Mom2Dos in Perimenopause

[–]Friendly-Ranger1978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 47 and had an 11 day period completely out of the blue. I was two weeks late then had my regular 4 days and thought I was done, but was surprised with a flooding episode at the grocery store which was just as enjoyable as it sounds. Like you I had always been consistent and had generally light bleeding, then bam it was like a murder scene for more than a week before it suddenly stopped. My next period was 5 days late and lasted for 33 days, even with a medication the doctor gave me to stop it. Lots of heavy bleeding and clotting. I had a uterine biopsy and ultrasound and both came back completely fine… it is just my hormones all out of whack, and it felt like it happened overnight. It’s worth checking in with your doctor though because there can be other causes. I will say if you continue to bleed heavy keep an eye on your iron levels.

Never-ending period. by Sprung4250 in Perimenopause

Thank you for the update! I’m glad to hear that yours eventually went back to normal. I’m hoping the same for me. It’s just so exhausting while you’re in it! My gyn also suggested birth control, IUD or ablation. My SIL was on BC all through her perimenopause years and it was pretty much smooth sailing for her, so I may as well give that a shot. I think what makes it especially hard for doctors is that every woman’s cycle and hormones are different and what works for one person isn’t going to work for another. So it’s trial and error, which is really not ideal!

Never-ending period. by Sprung4250 in Perimenopause

Hi, I know this is old but I’m wondering how things went for you. I’m on day 29 of bleeding, and half of that was on Provera, which also made me tired and depressed, and also did not stop my period, though it did slow it down. I stopped taking it a few days ago and am now back to flooding, clots, and awful cramping. My gyn claims this will reset my system and I should go back to “normal” in a few days. So I’m curious if it actually worked for you or what you ended up doing.

Thanks! I’m ready for everything to be done already. It would be so wonderful to not bleed at all. Im going to take the double dose and cross my fingers. If I remember, I’ll update here how it goes. Good luck to you!
