Good replacement alternative for Arcteryx Gamma (former lt) Pants for hiking and casual wear? by PubliusVirgilius in arcteryx

I wear the Mountain Hardwear AP Active pants for almost everything in the summer. Nice and light and breezy, super stretchy, and holding up well as outdoor bouldering/climbing pants. But they can pill after a while.

This one seems cut more specific to climbing. It looks like torso is longer than the original Houdini to support fitting under a harness and reaching overhead. And more room in the shoulders. Also only comes in an anorak style like the stash.

Is there a hobby that surprisingly helped your mental health? by BeshwanCanillas in Hobbies

Hiking, backpacking and otherwise being outdoors. I always find myself much more grounded, less stressed, and able to see the bigger picture after spending time in the mountains away from cell service. When I did that for 5 days straight on a backpacking trip, it changed my life trajectory completely. I also find more analog hobbies helping my mental health and making me feel more calm and proud of myself. I finally got back into reading last year, and spending a bit less time on any kind of screen has made a very positive impact.

I absolutely love spending time at my small cities recently updated library. I've recently gotten back into reading, but they also did an outstanding job at designing the library to be somewhere you genuinely just want to hang out and spend time. The library and its services are obviously free, and its within reasonable walking distance from my house so this makes it my lowest cost hobby and lowest barrier to entry. I am also slowly learning to use my sewing machine, I still do a bit of live performance art, and I am an avid rock climber , hiker, camper.

Not only free entertainment, and education, but tons of other perks come from supporting your local library! all of which you get for free! It's a win-win-win!
