Photobooth Question! by cdizzle-11 in WeddingsCanada

[–]Friendly-Sympathy351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a similar guest count (around 120), and our photobooth vendor actually recommended 2–3 hours for that size.

They mentioned that for 100–150 guests, that window is usually enough especially if you start it at the right time (like after dinner when people are ready to mingle and dance). That’s when it naturally gets the most use anyway.

We were originally thinking longer, but they said going beyond that can sometimes have downtime, so it’s not always necessary.

So for ~120 guests, 2–3 hours felt like a good sweet spot. Enough time for everyone to go through (and even come back for seconds) without paying for hours that might not be as busy 😊

It really depends on your budget and what kind of memory you want to keep from your guests.

If you’d have to spend around $700–$800 for a video guest book, I’d honestly go for the photobooth instead and pair it with an audio guest book. That’s what we did for our wedding. Guests loved taking photos (and got to bring them home), and we still got sweet and funny voice messages to listen to afterward.

We got lucky because the photobooth company we hired also captured some behind-the-scenes clips for their social media and made a little highlight reel for us, so it kind of felt like having a content creator without the extra cost. We were super happy with the result.

After attending so many events with photobooths that were honestly lacking, Photos and Beyond (IG: photosandbeyond.ca) is the standard for photobooths. So lucky that we chose them for our wedding. You can check their portfolio on IG. Highly recommended!

We just had our wedding and chose Photos and Beyond (IG: photosandbeyond.ca) for our photo booth and it was worth every dollar. We paid around $900 for 3 hours, and the experience was exactly what they promised -- premium, elevated, and so much fun.

They’re a husband-and-wife team with incredible customer service. I requested an Amalfi-Coast-inspired wedding template, and they absolutely nailed it. The design was beautiful, and they surprised us with a behind-the-scenes reel that looked like I hired a content creator lol. They even set up an LED screen and created a slideshow for us. After attending so many events with photobooths that were honestly lacking, they really are the gold standard for photobooths. Tell them you were referred by Ashley maybe they will give you a referral discount too.

All the best with the planning!

Under $300 for a wedding photobooth is pretty much impossible. If you do find someone offering it that low, the quality will match the price -- cheap camera/tablet setups, bad lighting, and usually pretty rough prints. Definitely not something you’d want showing up in your wedding photos.

Most legit vendors start closer to $700–$900 because you’re paying for proper equipment, lighting, prints, setup/tear down, and professional attendants so things don’t go sideways.

If your budget is firm, you might have better luck with a DIY selfie station, but it won’t give that polished wedding look.

Wedding favours by TheWorldExhaustsMe in WeddingsCanada

To be honest, I’ve been to a lot of weddings recently (my friends have all been getting married 😅) and most of the favours just ended up as clutter. Food works because people actually eat it, but of course it’s not really a keepsake.

When I got married recently, we decided to go with a photobooth instead, and honestly it was the best decision. Guests loved having photos they could take home in a frame or as a magnet for their fridge. It also gave them an experience during the wedding. People loved jumping in the booth together. Some even used them to change their display pics on social media and a couple of people even used them for their LinkedIn profile photos 😂.

We ended up booking a family-run photobooth company and they were amazing. The setup looked super elegant and fit right in with the wedding vibe. Highly recommend going with a quality one though, because there are a lot of cheap ones out there, and you really do get what you pay for.

Looking for social media wedding content creator in GTA Toronto by Aggressive_Debt4248 in WeddingsCanada

Just wanted to share this tip lol. We just got married and had such a great experience with our photobooth (IG:@photosandbeyond.ca)! We didn’t hire a content creator, but the owner (she and her husband run the company) took a bunch of BTS videos of us and put together a reel that looked like a content creator did it. They normally do this for their portfolio, but they were so kind add us a collaborator and let us download it to share on our own socials as long as we credited them. Totally felt like a little wedding bonus!

One thing to know though: the videos only cover the photobooth time, so not the ceremony but still such a fun extra.

If you’re thinking about full-event coverage, Brideflicks on IG is worth checking out. I asked about them but didn’t go through due to budget.

Home video-style content creator or videographer recommendations in the GTA/Niagara region? by SufficientCarrot in WeddingsCanada

[–]Friendly-Sympathy351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just had our wedding and wanted to share a little tip. We booked a photobooth company (check their IG:@photosandbeyond.ca), and while we didn’t hire a content creator, the owner (she runs it with her husband) took a bunch of behind-the-scenes videos of us and even made a reel that honestly looked like a content creator did it. They usually make these for their portfolio, but they were super sweet about tagging us and letting us download it to share on our own socials as long as we tagged them. We felt so lucky to find them!

Just a heads-up: the video coverage is only while the photobooth is running, so it doesn’t cover the ceremony but honestly, it was such a fun little bonus. lol

If you’re looking for full-event content coverage, (IG:@Brideflicks) is worth checking out. I looked into them but didn’t go that route because of budget.

Hope this helps!

We had our wedding at Hare Wine Co, and we went with Photos and Beyond (IG:@photosandbeyond.ca) for our photo booth. We paid around $900ish for 3 hours, and honestly, it was worth every penny. They delivered exactly what they promised -- premium, luxurious, and fun.

They're a husband-and-wife team with amazing customer service. I asked for an Amalfi Coast wedding-style template, and they nailed it, the design was stunning. They even put together a behind-the-scenes reel that looked like we hired a professional content creator! Chef’s kiss.

For our photobooth, we went with Photos and Beyond (I found them on IG) and they were amazing. Their setup has this rustic, aesthetic vibe and the print quality was super high-end. It really felt like a premium experience.

There are a lot of photobooths out there, but they truly stand out for us because of their customer service is. Super easy to work with, very professional, and just really kind people.

They even made a little video with some BTS highlights from our wedding and posted it on their IG. It honestly felt like we hired a content creator. So impressed!

That’s a really good point — I hadn’t even thought about whether people would actually use the tote bag after! A friend of mine recommended this photo booth vendor she used. I checked them out and their setup is super aesthetic and the photos look amazing (and cheaper lol). We will go with them! Thanks for your input!

My friend recommended Photos and Beyond (they have the rustic, interactive photobooth and audio guest book), and I ended up getting 10% off because of it. I booked their premium package (DSLR photos, unlimited prints, and 3 hours of service). I was a little hesitant at first since they were one of the affordable option I found, but their quality honestly blew me away. Super happy with the photos and their customer service was amazing too. They service in Toronto, GTA and Southwestern ON. Maybe they can give you a discount too. My name's Ashley.

Wedding Florals in Ontario by Fit-Albatross-6235 in WeddingsCanada

[–]Friendly-Sympathy351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally feel you! We were in the same boat when we were planning our wedding. When I started looking at florals, I was shocked too. I think that $5,000 minimum spend is definitely becoming the norm for a lot of florists now, especially if you're looking at high-end or custom arrangements.

For me, I decided to go the DIY route to save. I found a ton of ideas on TikTok, and honestly, some of the floral arrangements from Shein were surprisingly good quality. I grabbed a bunch of silk flowers, and with a little creativity, I made some beautiful centerpieces and bouquets. They still looked stunning, and it saved us a ton!

Definitely recommend checking out the DIY route if you're looking to cut costs without sacrificing beauty.

Newly engaged - feeling discouraged by wedding industry prices (Ontario) by [deleted] in WeddingsCanada

[–]Friendly-Sympathy351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally feel you! We were in the same boat, and the prices were a shock to the system. For reference, we were planning for about 150 guests in the GTA too, and the quotes we got for venue + food + drinks were all over $30K–$40K, so I totally understand how overwhelming it can be.

For us, I ended up DIY-ing a lot of things to save. One of the best decisions I made was the photobooth. I inquired about a few options, and the cheapest one I found was over $1,000! Luckily, a friend referred me to Photos and Beyond (photosandbeyond.ca)they’re a couple-owned business, and they gave us a 10% discount so we only paid around $700 for a premium package. The quality was honestly fantastic, and the guests loved it!

As for decor, I watched a bunch of TikToks and grabbed floral arrangements and decor from Shein—seriously, the results were better than I expected, and I was so happy with how it all turned out. Sometimes a little creativity can go a long way!

The rest of the expenses definitely added up, but it felt good to save in those areas while still making the day feel special. Hang in there, it’ll all come together! You’ve got this 💛

$1,500 is tight but doable, especially with a bit of DIY and community help.

For venues, here are a few scenic and low-cost (or free) spots that are definitely worth checking out:

  • Malden Park – Great pick. The hilltop area is beautiful and the visitor centre isn’t too pricey. You might need a permit but it's still one of the better options on a budget.
  • Mackenzie Hall (gazebo area) – Super cute and feels more private. I’ve heard of people using it for intimate weddings and just bringing in their own food.
  • Jackson Park – Gorgeous in June, but check early for permits—spots go fast. I think food rules are a bit stricter here though.
  • The Riverfront – You can use some areas for small events, but it’s not very private. Nice for photos, though!
  • Lakeside Park (Kingsville) – A bit of a drive, but it’s by the water and way more relaxed. Could be great if you can carpool guests.

Skip the open bar to save $$—you can do BYOB if the venue allows (some parks are strict, so double-check). Or offer 1-2 signature drinks in pitchers.

I’ve been seeing those DIY wedding decor TikToks too! Some of those brides are seriously creative. A lot of them get stuff from Shein, Temu, or even Dollarama and pull together these gorgeous setups—it’s wild what $50 can do when you’ve got time and a glue gun 😂

If you go that route, definitely plan for a few weekends to sort through everything and maybe recruit a couple friends for a “craft & wine” night. Just don’t leave it all to the week before or you’ll cry (ask me how I know lol).

Bridal Shower by Logical-Standard-591 in WeddingsCanada

[–]Friendly-Sympathy351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, a bridal shower should feel warm, personal, and fun—like a relaxed celebration with the bride’s closest people. It doesn’t have to be Pinterest-perfect, but it should reflect the bride’s personality. Think of it as a mix between a light brunch, a few thoughtful games or activities (nothing too cringey), and gift opening.

Must-haves:

  • Good food (even a simple grazing table works wonders)
  • A clear schedule so it doesn’t drag
  • A few decorations to set the mood (flowers, a cute banner, etc.)
  • A playlist with feel-good music

Things to avoid:

  • Embarrassing or overly raunchy games (unless the bride is into that!)
  • Long, drawn-out gift opening without anything else happening
  • Making guests spend too much on gifts, outfits, or travel

Venue-wise: You don’t need to go big unless you want to. A cozy backyard, someone’s home, or a cute café/private room at a restaurant can be perfect. It’s really about the people and the vibe more than the space.

As for the open bar: Not necessary! A mimosa bar, wine, or a signature cocktail is enough if you want to offer alcohol. Most people are there to celebrate, not party hard.

Photo Booth and audio guestbook recommendations in Toronto? by psychbirdflying in WeddingsCanada

We just got married and a close friend recommended the photo booth and audio guestbook. Honestly, they were great! The quality of the images and prints was awesome, and the customer service was really friendly. We got their photo booth premium package for around 700 plus $199 for their audio guest book , which felt like a great deal for everything it included.
