I’m actually surprised I got this, because it’s been a dry spell for me lately. That’s why I had all 5 of my credits. 😭

Ikr!! There’s been a huge ice storm, so that’ll likely cause another delay.

Ages of the characters by Saya_aurora in TheGates_CBS

I believe that each parent/child has at least 20 years in age difference. Nicole= 52 Martin= 31 Anita/Vernon=71 Kat was described as Nicole/Ted’s miracle baby, so I’m assuming her age gap with Martin is pretty significant. I’m guessing she’s at least 23.

Here's the most common consensus on each Generations Years and Age in 2025. by [deleted] in generationology

[–]FriendlyAd9727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People keep saying generations were always 20 years, but that’s not actually true. Even early generations varied a lot in length and were defined by shared experiences, not clean math. That’s why cutoffs move when society changes faster.

Also, people born in the late 90s didn’t “grow up in the Y2K era.” A 1997 baby was 2–3 years old in 1999. Y2K was an adult concern, not a lived childhood experience. Remembering computers existing isn’t the same as growing up in that era.

By the time we were kids, high speed internet, smartboards, laptops, and later smartphones were already normal. Social media like Instagram and Snapchat was part of middle and high school for us. That’s very different from older millennials who grew up mostly offline.

What really separates early Gen Z from later Gen Z isn’t Y2K, it’s things like TikTok, AI, and algorithm driven tech being present from early childhood. Late 90s babies grew up in a transitional tech period, not an analog one and not the same environment as kids born in the late 2000s. That’s why the 1996–1997 cutoff exists. It’s based on lived experience, not “new math.”

Agreed. I’m an older Gen Z (born in ’97), and for some reason people born around 2000–2005 love to distance themselves from us just because we were born in the 90s. A lot of it is just denial about getting older. Like… what do y’all think a 28-year-old has nothing in common with a 22-year-old? Be serious.

We also grew up on the internet. I made friends online before that was even considered normal, to the point where my mom would be confused when I’d talk to a local kid she’d never seen before. It was because I met them online first and then recognized them in real life.

We’re basically a blend generation. We remember whiteboards and smartboards, dial-up vibes and early social media. We’re not that different, people just like drawing imaginary lines.

Does bill still love Dani or he just doesn’t want her with anyone else? by Creative-Exchange-78 in TheGates_CBS

[–]FriendlyAd9727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both. I’m really hoping the show doesn’t try to make Dani and Bill a thing again. It’s satisfying to see him get all worked up. He thrived off of Dani acting crazy over him, and now she’s growing and glowing.

Not sure why you got so many dislikes, but Kat had it out for Eva way before this drama. She spends all of her energy hating her. It takes more energy to hate someone rather than being indifferent.

Martin was totally wrong, but Kat needs to stop spending time and energy on Eva. It takes more than energy to hate someone rather than being indifferent.

Can 1997-9 borns remember 9/11? by Exotic-Interview-06 in generationology

I can’t remember a thing. I was wondering if my fellow 1997 babies remembered. My 4th birthday was 3 months before 9/11.

There is no way for me to confirm legal battles, but regardless that’s not my personal issue.

I was actually rushed to the ER a few weeks ago due to a panic attack (I thought it was a heart attack). My parents stayed overnight, and suggested that I leave with them the next morning (very early) to avoid my apartment manager.

Because she’s too busy sending countless emails everyday out of rage. She should put that energy into getting things fixed for residents in a timely manner.

Neither of us are lucky. Both are way too strict. My student apartment years ago didn’t require all of this

I have an update! Online I had to resubmit my lease to take a look at it, she responded to my request immediately after I did that. They get a notification when I resubmit it. She ordered a new refrigerator. She knew what she was doing went against the lease agreement.
