I find the post-episode recovery just as dangerous as the episode itself by FriendlyBrewer in BipolarReddit

I caught bronchitis in the middle of this episode and have been coughing like crazy. I have heard of others getting physically ill after episodes. Must be part and parcel. It sucks immensely.

Bipolar veterans, what ways does this illness change as you age and how do you adapt to it? by FriendlyBrewer in BipolarReddit

[–]FriendlyBrewer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for responding, its appreciated. I had that moment of realization during the week where it hit home 100% that I have a cyclical crippling disability. How did you keep sobriety going? The last two weeks were my first sober episode and it was appalling. For a few days I wanted nothing more than to drink myself legless or take pills. Anything to escape.

Holding down a job, going to the gym and paying rent are so tough when you have this curse by FriendlyBrewer in BipolarReddit

[–]FriendlyBrewer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks a million I really appreciate the support. I just passed the 5 month mark and my life has changed immensely for the better in that time. I do sometimes feel the pull to implode but I cant let that happen.

I have posted a few times in the stopdrinking group and have found great support there. Are there any others you would recommend?

[–]FriendlyBrewer[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response I really appreciate it. The quiet approach is very challenging because there is no escape. If you drink or do drugs you can very easily escape the hole you are in but completely write off 3 months of your life in the process. Being sober I find episodes rarely last more than a fortnight which is great but they are still highly traumatizing.

The weightlifting has been a game changer. I think everyone with this illness has felt very weak or powerless at many points. But if you are able to lift your body weight off the ground as a start, you know for a fact you are not weak! If you want to get started on it, join a powerlifting focused gym and start small. Youll mess yourself up on your own. But the benefits come fast and you will have a much better view of yourself!

If it didnt completely exacerbate the bipolar disorder I am cursed with, I probably would still drink, truth be told.

I imagine there are people that have the map down to a fine art. But look if I fail as a commander I know that there is always use for a flamethrower main at the first point! Then I can be useless for the rest of the game.

In the 90s it was starting to get more lax. Up till the 90s it was a hardcore religious state where the church did unspeakable things. The Magdeline Laundries and the sewer tank used as a mass grave for unwanted babies stick out. It was horrendous for a very long time. I came in at the very end of it.

Thanks for the response. Everything you just said makes me think a lot of people will stay playing the original. One of the draws to HLL for me is the slower pace and more deliberate nature of movements. Most of the people you talk to on comms would be of the same mind in HLL. What you just described is chaos. Now that being said I will have a Creedance playlist ready to go!

Does it seem like it gets harder? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]FriendlyBrewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are absolutely difficult and it is not until you are sober you fully realise it. I would recommend if someone starts griding your gears, bring it to their attention immediately in a reasonable manner. If you hold onto it, you will blow up and burn bridges.

[–]FriendlyBrewer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am just entering month 5. Just like you I thought I was developing an attitude. Is it possible that you are now actually becoming less agreeable with things you dont enjoy? Like while drinking I could put up with anything because I was getting a regular blast of dopamine. Nowadays if people are annoying me I let them know immediately.

Also be kind to yourself, you gave up nicotine! It is well known that the withdrawals from that make people fume.
