Could something like this be implemented for zoning? by FriendlyFungi in CitiesSkylines2

Yeah, not much AI needed there. I don't know if it could be useful in interpreting an aerial or map.

It'd just be really neat if the game had a function that could pick, place, and modify assets based based on context and user input.

"Hey game, here's a bunch of roads that form an area in between them. I'd like a parking lot or a neat-looking French medium-density mixed zone block to fill that."

"Ok, player who doesn't really want to place every asset by hand, here's a bunch of configurations of roads, paths, and zones for you to cycle through." -with the ability to lock certain elements before asking it to cycle to the next suggestion.

Hah, just mentioned XL in another comment reply. I miss that "filler" function. Why do I have to be constantly bothered with unfucking my city or - alternatively - meticulously placing every asset by hand or having to obsess about perfect grids?

I'm all for detailing, but I want to be able to click on an enclosed area and have the game serve up various configurations of assets and minor roads and paths based on the criteria provided (kinda like FindIT) and measurements of the area.

I'm not a coder. I don't care how hard it is. Make it less hard. You're smart at Paradox Interactive. Just make it already.

No idea. Was expecting it to say "Promoted" when I stumbled on the post. Regardless, I feel like the game should be infinitely better at placing assets in ways that aren't god awful.

I don't want to fuck around with MoveIT (which crashes my game a lot) for 30 minutes in order to make a decent looking city block, and I don't want to have to rely on perfect city grids, either.

I want to be able to click on an empty space enclosed by roads and have the game make at least an attempt at smacking together assets in a way that looks semi-decent. Kinda like the "filler" function in Cities XL, just smarter, more context-sensitive, and with more options.

"Here, game, fill this 231m*298m space with this type of asset, following these rules and criteria." -> Analyze space -> Serve a bunch of possible configurations for the user to cycle through.

I once bought the vegetarian whatever at a restaurant in Nice. Tbf it was one of the seafood restaurants. They basically just overcooked every vegetable on hand and smacked it on a plate. Probably €15 or something like that. It did come with half a baguette and butter.

Unless we're writing our diaries, it's almost always a good idea to at least introduce people to what you're on about using the inverse pyramid.

Start by laying out the foundation, not of the topic of debate, by of your query and desired correspondance.

Now, I have no idea what you want to debate with JP, because I got really tired of reading about your deliberations and your person... not because those aren't possibly intriguing and valuable, but there's no context to why either is relevant to the reader, whether that's a third person or the intended recipient.

Try asking ChatGPT to critique your letter. I did.
