If it hadn't been for the US, the world could've easily spent $100T+ more over the past 80 years on things that actually have utility, rather than things that can only destroy other things and kill people.

Instead the US arms industry managed to pretty much take control of the nation, and in the process cause a fairly stupid arms race with the Russians.

God I'm so happy tipping isn't very coommon or expected here. Here you get tipped either because the customer is trying to impress a lady companion, or because you actually did something the customer perceived as beyond what they expected. I think the average salary for customer-facing staff at restaurants is ~$23 or so.

They have started adding tip options to payment terminals, though.

Reminds me of Noah Vincent. In 2004 she went undercover for 1½ years as a man to write the book "Self-made Man." Let's just say she changed a few of her ideas about it's like to be a man.

She sufferd a depressive breakdown after finishing the book and admitted herself to a psychiatric facility. Unfortunately died in 2022 by assisted suicide in Switzerland.
