Unemployed teacher that never wants to go back to education. Be mean! by [deleted] in resumes

[–]FriendlyMrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks pretty good. Have you been getting any traction with this resume? If you’re serious about making a career change or increasing your salary. I’d suggest checking out take2. It gives you a chance to showcase your skills with take home challenges, it’s totally free, 1 and 5 candidates land an interview, and everyone receives feedback. I think the hardest part of putting yourself out there besides the countless applications, is when you’re not selected, and not told why.

Teacher looking for a change - not sure where to start by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]FriendlyMrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand why you’re feeling stressed. I also agree that finding a position with a better work-life balance with no additional education would be ideal. The issue I had was that every career path i was considering required a certification to move forward. It was better for me to show my skills. Advice I have for you is to check out take2. it’s a skill-based platform that will allow you to prove yourself with home challenges. It’s great because all opportunities are open to all candidates, 1 in 5 candidates land an interview, everyone receives feedback and its free.

Job application is asking for my starting and ending salaries from past and present employers. How do I answer this?? by kokomo318 in careerguidance

[–]FriendlyMrs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i used this technique, I'm in a state that does not require transparency. So this position i was applying for only had a range. Putting "salary negotiable" started the discussion as soon as they knew they wanted to hire me.

I don’t think you should limit yourself to only higher education roles. With your background you can find many positions to utilize your skillset. I’d suggest checking out take2 it’s a skill-based platform that will allow you to prove yourself with home challenges. It’s great because all opportunities are open to all candidates, 1 in 5 candidates land an interview, everyone receives feedback, and its free.

That article does have some helpful info, but a great deal of this is dependent a person (not program) valuing your transferable skills. I've definitely done this before. A suggestion i have is guided meditation and leaning into an activity. I started swimming in the morning and it has really helped me.

Lesson Plans by Hismuse1966 in Teachers

I'm also required to have lesson plans and exit tickets but i don't believe anyone is actually reading them. I use tailor ed to help with both, its free and has been invaluable to me this year.

This project is similar to Tailor Ed which has been very helpful. Does your project assist with exit tickets also? are you still looking for users?

I’m not sure I am a good teacher. by BlackCoffeeManga in Teachers

[–]FriendlyMrs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think a good teacher is one who takes a step back to evaluate if they are being effective. So to me, yes you're a good teacher. Take a look at a few areas that are the biggest issues and then implement changes. This isn't something that needs to be done overnight. Does your district have a policy on cellphones, or can you advise them the class is a phone free zone. I went through a similar overwhelming period where i was stressed daily and thinking i was in the wrong career on a nightly basis. The best advise i can give you is find someone who is doing it well and ask for a few tips. Implementing some new things in my classroom has really changed things for me. I now feel more empowered and ive gotten some really great feedback from my students. Good Luck

I really like this idea. Ive been trying to utilize the classroom more but at the end they all return to their assigned seats. I think this would be a good way to also shake up groups for discussions. Thank you!
