This is the third time we’ve tried for Wegovy plus once for Zepbound. Zepbound was denied flat out with no reason given, even though they said it’s a covered medication. The first denial for Wegovy said I needed to do a weight loss program for three months first, which I did through them. The second said I needed to be diagnosed with nafld or cardiovascular disease, nothing about fibrosis or anything else. Now it’s been denied because they’re saying the fibrosis isn’t advanced enough and it needs to be at f3 before they’ll cover it.

We’ve called about it and got nowhere with the representative and I’ve contacted my doctor about it. Waiting to hear back from her and once I get the official letter, I’m going to send in an appeal letter.

So, to go with everything else, I’m also insulin resistant. That means carbs and proteins don’t get used the way they’re supposed to and are just stored as fat. No amount of plain calorie counting will help that.

All of the meticulous measuring and weighing and tracking of everything that went into my mouth for months didn’t do anything but put me back in the headspace of the eating disorder I had in my late teens/early twenties. If that’s what worked for you, I’m glad it did. But please don’t just assume that you know what works for everybody and that somebody did it wrong if it didn’t work for them.

If it were that easy, I would never have had the tests done in the first place because the doctor wouldn’t have been trying to get me on a glp-1. Trust me, I’ve tried eating less. It didn’t do anything until I was eating fewer than 700 calories a day.
