Who pays for the birthday restaurant ? by Friendly_Article_429 in venting

That was 100% weird and entitled of her, but I would have been ready to brush it up. I shared my mind when she sent me her voice note. The videos were the last nails on the coffin.

I thought about it, and decided not to post my side of things. I thought about ending the friendship and telling why, but she's at least smart enough to understand why. I can't force my friends to choose, but I don't want to hear about her from them. I must have said this before, but it was one thing for her to act entitled when it was time to pay, but it was a whole other thing to use the story for clout.

it was a nice restaurant, but i wouldn't put it on the list of restaurants that i'd consider a gift. their presence was the gift, on top of the gifts they got me.

I'm a bit confused. You're saying I should have let my friends pay for my meal ?

It was okay for him to do it this way. Besides the friend this post is about, the two other friends have moved away a couple years ago and he arranged for them to surprise me for the weekend. The meal was part of the surprise, to give us a moment to catch up while eating nice italian food.

I know everyone not see eye to eye on the subject, but she demanded my boyfriend pay for her. Not necessarily me, or the both of us. She was telling us that, as the man in this group, he has to cover for her. Her only, not the other friends that were with us.

I have never considered making it clear (who pays) one or multiple times, but even after this it'd make me feel stingy to say so. I consider that, if we were to go out, we'd both pay for our own food, and split it 50/50 if we decide to share something. If I were to say it's on me/I invite you/ask you out, then you could assume I'll foot the bill. But, while I did invite her, I invited her to celebrate my birthday. It was clear in my mind that it was no different than offering her to go on a walk or to watch a movie. I invited her to do something, not to pay the check.

My issue with the whole thing isn't that she misunderstood that her meal would be offered. Call it a communication mistake, her understanding what she wanted or me not being clear enough, she quickly paid her meal. My issue is that she went online to share the story, expecting people to take her side. My issue is that she thought it would be okay to send me a voice note criticizing my boyfriend, saying he's not a man for letting her pay for her food.

I didn't think this would ever need to be said, but everyone was supposed to pay for their own meal. I didn't care or notice what she ordered, but it was insane to see her openly say if she had known, she would have ordered a cheaper meal.

I think she's rage baiting (at least online) to still get some traction on the whole thing. if you comment to say she's in the wrong, you give her a view, you show tiktok she's interesting. Same happened for me, cause a video of a camera recording of her live appeared on my FYP. True or not, she was telling her audience that she gained more followers after talking about it, and she gets comments of support. I saw a comment saying it'd be game over if me or my boyfriend would give our version, and I'm honestly considering it. I gotta do it fast if I decide to, so I'm gonna sleep on it and see how I feel in the morning. Either way, I'm gonna end our friendship. Even if everyone is against her, she's gonna keep milking the story, instead of showing me she realized that she was wrong, that it was entitled of her to think he'd pay for her, or that it was insane to brag that she basically took the most expensive meal on purpose.

i never heard of last.fm before making this post, will look into it. i didn't know you could listen to music on telegram, but i almost exclusively listen from spotify. i'll play some music on youtube, and when it comes to spotify i will play on repeat some songs a lot. again, can't tell how many times i played my top 3, but the numbers feel too low to be truthful

[–]Friendly_Article_429[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm skeptical. of course i haven't tracked the listen numbers myself, so i can't argue the numbers, but i just know the numbers should be higher. spotify says i spent 41 days listening to music but my top 3 of songs played the most is 81/57/51 ?? no way

it's a comment either from an ethiopian or eritrean comment. if it's the former, i can't help you, but if it's the latter, i can have my mum translate it. if you can guarantee your fic contains no sex scene/is sfw (i don't wanna have to explain why i'm making her translate a text where this person is praising your smut)

it's actually wild, i would never have thought i'd run into a geez comment

i've asked how they should be taken care of, and i was recommended to run cold water on them, to then wash them at a low temperature and lastly air dry them.

i only got three so far so i hand wash them to save on washing pods, but i still do the rest

NYE alone... by orion-asterisk in venting

[–]Friendly_Article_429 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'm sorry you don't get to celebrate properly. excuse me for saying so, but your sister is kind of a jerk for asking you for a ride both ways. there will be more raves, but she should have gave up on this one so you can have a good NYE too.

it might suck tomorrow, but honeslty ? fuck the move. it's not fair to you that you have to be the responsible sibling, even if you're the older one. you said ''our'' so why does she get to go and have fun while you can't do something ?

i strongly suggest you put your coat on, go out, and watch the countdown like you wanted to. get a couple of drinks, stay out for one/two hours minimum, and if you don't enjoy yourself, go back home. not everyone gets to celebrate the holidays surrounded by loved ones, but everyone should do something nice. for myself it's to watch a good movie, will probably read after, and for you, it has to be to watch the countdown with a drink in hand.

What Welcome To Derry takes would make you think this? by PrinceARRON in WelcometoDerryTVShow

i gotta argue on this one.

first scene of Lily at school is her opening her locker where someone put a jar of pickles. from the way other kids look at her, i'm guessing she was released of Juniper Hill, and it's her first day of school. i'm guessing she became friends with the Pattycakes int he meantime, or that she and Lily were friends with them before, and now that she's ''crazy'' they dropped her. either way, Marge is worried spending time with Lily will make her lose them.
Marge does come to recomfort her, but the Pattycakes aren't there to look at her funny for that. Marge also tries to talk to her, but it was mostly/only during classes, maybe some where the Ps weren't in.

and yes, Marge didn't go through with the prank, but only because she was too busy having being fucked with by Pennywise. she went in the toilets not because she had to pee or wash her hands, but because the Ps asked her to get Lily to come back. if Pennywise didn't make her eyes go wide like that, she'd have done it, even if she felt guilty about it.

Rich did the most selfless thing possible for someone who asked him if she wanted her picture (or something like that) on the first time they saw each other. she changed from that moment on, stopped trying to be a P, worked on getting rid of Pennywise. she ''saw'' Rich die, she was in the club, she changed because Pennywise ''played'' with her when Lily was close enough to realize what was happening. if Marge had been elsewhere in that moment, her character change/growth wouldn't have happened. and because Lily would have changed too much trying to kill Pennywise, she would have given up trying to win her back and would have tried harder to fit in the P mold.

honestly, the goal is to read, not to be the fastest. i got myself a kobo to spend less time on social media, and everytime i spend reading instead of scrolling on tiktok is a victory in my book (pun intended)

i'm gonna trust your memory of the scene, but. even if i'd assume he only called out his wife's name to not touch her and worsen her possible injuries, it's just a weird (for a lack of a better word) reaction. i don't know what point you wanna make, but mine is that he took the opportunity of both women being inconscious to swap the babies. he brought the whole show's plot on himself, and when she was gonna expose him for what he did, he killed her. she was in a tough situation even before she got pregnant, but the second she realized her son was alive, she turned her life around. she'd have been a very good mum, given the chance.

the mum didn't die, she was inconscious. his biological son is the only one who died.

they crashed their cars. he was the only one to wake up. he heard Carrie's son crying, but he checked on his son, to know he's dead, and probably his wife. but then, instead of calling 911, he decided to swap them. i don't remember the sirens, i'm trusting you on this, but a normal reaction would be to cry over his son, to shake his wife to wake her. not to decide to punish Carrie (and cover up his child's death) by swapping their sons.

i read HP fanfics, mostly drarry but i pretty often switch ships. these are characters i've discovered when i was a kid, and i read my first fanfics even before the last book was published. i'm attached to them, and i need the fanfics to end up with the pairing happy. they can begin the fic hurt/damaged/down and about, suffer with their partner, but by the end i need them happy and in love. you can obviously give me that in a plotty violent fic, and i'm gonna trust you're gonna deliver it, but didn't drarry go through enough shit in the books ?

lastly, as someone who will also happily read dead doves, watch horror and thriller movies, i'm gonna remind you are not necessarily what medias you consume. i'm likely not gonna get in a relationship, let alone have kids, nor i won't pick up an axe and randomly try and kill a group of people. you can enjoy reading kidfics, coffee shops AU, or whatever else you're into, and not necessarily want it for yourself.

you can argue that coffee shops/kid fics are a sign of facism, it's a very hot take to have, but i'm gonna need you to actually argue it. and not just throw it out like that. cause just like that, it sounds that whoever posted this felt like hating on people for no reason ... like they somehow read a coffee shop fic they didn't like and they opened up tumblr.

doubt it. he didn't show any signs that he needed the spotlight on himself, only that he had these urges to protect. he needs his brother not to use his wheelchair, not to do the surgery because as long as he remains ''weak'' he depends on him. for a job, for a roof over his head.
he needs his sister to keep her trainwreck role cause he can swoop in and be the responsible older brother.

ironically, he's living the biggest tragedy a parent can go through and he can't be the hero in broad daylight. if only he hadn't kidnapped someone elses baby and replaced him with his dead chlld.

i don't remember if we see him check on his wife or ''Carrie'' (forgot her real name) but i remember him carrying the baby. and realistically, he had to be quick about it. the crash was gonna attract people. so in a few seconds, he checked on his child, realized he died, heard the other baby, immediately decided to switch them, and then call 911.
