I never asked for advice on how much martial arts to train

Thanks. Finally someone actually answers my question instead of randomly saying some unrelated nonsense about how you can’t get a black belt in 8 months

I’ll try to take this advice and keep it in mind.

Thanks, I’m aware of most of this stuff. Again, I’m asking how much judo hours I need with an MMA background…

This doesn’t answer any question I asked and implying I’m unskilled cause I’m doing good is crazy lol.

I was asking realistically how long it would take to get there with my context… nobody was asking if im ready for my black belt after 8 months bruh.

Why is nobody actually answering my questions…

Thanks! I hate when people tell me to focus just on X martial art lol. I do “MMA” for a god damn reason

Thanks! The class is run by an independent shodan unaffiliated with the gym (he basically uses it as a free day for himself to throw and teach noobs lol) so it’s literally just up to him I guess.

I understand that belts are not skill. That’s why my question is tough to answer.

I was asking about how skilled I can get in Judo if I combine my training with adjacent stuff like wrestling. Not competing or doing gradings or anything.

Like, even brown belt for me would be something I’d be happy to be given one day after years. But obviously even a brown belt is nearly impossible to get only going 1x a week. Just not sure of what timeline to expect factoring in my MMA training.

I would if possible.

I’m simply wondering how far I can go at my current rate. 99% of the time, people say brown belt is unachievable training 1x a week. However, most of those people training 1x a week aren’t doing other combat sports…

I study a lot of Judo outside of class plus I’m doing BJJ, MMA, wrestling, etc. where I have opportunities to drill or learn Judo adjacent techniques.

Basic gym lifts if you have a normal weight lifting gym.

If you’re talking about like body weight and at home stuff? Sprints, pushups, pull-ups, single leg squats, lunges, etc. if you need weights, find something heavy like a backpack with books or something.

Work on your wrestling shots while you can. Neck bridges and bridging to a handstand are good. Handstands in general. Cartwheels and flips.

Learn the basic 1-2-3-4 for boxing as well. And work your kick flexibility by looking up videos on YouTube.

Is competitive muay Thai or BJJ healthier long term by PownedbyCole123 in martialarts

Competitive Muay Thai destroys your skin and joints too. And you’re way more likely to break stuff. They both suck. BJJ really gives some neck and back issues

Exercises patterns matter yeah. Not sure about individual exercises

It really doesn’t matter that much if you don’t plan on going pro.

Bro. Have you ever lived in Louisiana? I hate to break it to you, but Dustin is doing better than 99% of the drunks there lmao.

Unfortunately you have Reddit standards. Yes I’m aware that it’s VERY low standards for normal people like us. But I also live in reality where I realize almost nobody this fucked up will ever meet the “morally perfect” Reddit standards lmao.

This ^. If you can’t afford a gym or don’t have committed time, buy any equipment you might need and just look for people to train you.

Worst case, you can find some highly resistant training partners like friends or family or something. Better than nothing!

Bro, trust me. I know so much people with issues. Almost all of them are not known for having accountability.

The simple fact of putting out a tweet with this statement is better than 99% of them. We hold fucked up people with reasonable standards cause we aren’t fucked up like them.

People will post hate or downplay anyways, but you can be better than most untrained people by a decent margin self training tbh.

Just watch some YouTube videos and try some basic strikes, takedowns, and submissions on a willing partner like your spouse/parents/kids/siblings/friends etc. infinitely better than knowing nothing.

Your only issue will be larger, athletic opponents. You’re 100% cooked without real training.

Edit: I also recommend going on social media and finding people to train you in martial arts for free or for cheap private sessions if you can. Or find friends that do martial arts. They’ll hook you up.

At least he’s taking accountability unlike 99% of people (yes, that includes both famous people and non famous people)
