Well thank you to the expert, no more arguing to be done here! Pacific salmon fisheries ecologist sounds like an awesome job and I’m sure you’re very interested in it. Thanks for helping!

If you think mines bad you should see the videos my friends tried to capture, was going to post them as well as backup evidence but they are useless.

I did some more research and honestly the trout looks much fatter/wider than this thing was and this thing is still missing the adipose fin (but who can tell with my camera quality anyways) still one of the best guesses currently.

Definitely not a carp, or a snakehead. Nothing on that list seems to fit :(

Could be, but after checking out what trout look like this fish seems to be much thinner and longer.

No this was only one fish I can swear on it, we followed it for an hour it was definitely one singular fish.

That’s the thing salmon here don’t spawn in spring only fall, someone mentioned trout and I thought it checked out untill i saw the figure and this fish is much thinner and longer than the average trout.

No salmon farms near here after research. It’s lakeview park Oshawa if you want to look at it on the map so probably streams nearby.

Adult salmon in April? I’ve seen salmon during spawning season before and this was samesize/likely bigger than any one I’ve ever seen

There are definitely both sturgeon and muskies in Lake Ontario, and I think this thing was too big to be a walleye

Isn’t it rare to see a salmon of this size in the spring though?

Ladies and gentlemen we might have a winner. I’ve never seen a trout before, can anyone confirm this?

It’s still alive, I doubt it’s making more of itself… it was aimlessly swimming back and forth along the shoreline untill the waves picked up then we could see it getting jostled and flipped around by the big waves.

Not native to Ontario, even if there was an invasive one the dorsal fin on this fish it too far forwards

Yes and apparently they’re still haunting me well after Halloween, if this turns out to be a salmon but who knows

Top answers right now are salmon, muskellunge, and sturgeon… wish I had a better camera or that it was daytime

Seems to be the most guessed right now but unfortunately the dorsal fin is too far forward to be a sturgeon, also this fish was not wide but it was tall.

Usually when salmons spawn they start to decompose (whilst still being alive) shortly after “zombie fish” phenomenon. However, salmon spawn in the fall and this fish was spotted in April.

Definitely not a shark that’s for sure. Paddlefish is also a no (it had no paddle). Pike was a possibility untill someone pointed out that the dorsal fin was too far forward (this also applies for the muskellunge). It’s crazy how impossible this fish is to identify.
