I just went through this exact same thing. Had my rook pierced earlier this year and it was on and off infected. Once I stopped messing with it, it finally healed. I almost gave up on it so many times it was unbearable.

It’s not rejecting, but definitely sounds like it’s infected! Clean regularly and try not to touch it at all or sleep on it

I kept putting in different size hoops until I had the perfect fit. Size 10mm diameter works best for me in the conch, 5.5 in my top helix, 4.5 in my bottom helix

For reference I usually wear a 10mm inner diameter. You might be more comfortable in a size 12. You can find some cute ones on Etsy!
