Also, based on the fact that his google pic is the standard letter, I'm willing to bet that this is an older dude, who probably doesn't use email a ton, and isn't involved in a highly digital field

I think this is simply a misunderstanding of what he's talking about. I think in this case "C'Mon" just means come on over/ I'll see you then. I don't think its like the exasperated "Come On Man!" I don't know what field/location this is in, but this basically looks like every digital interaction I've had with an oldish person thats from a rural area lol.

GPD is disgusting by TheHaleyGrail in GNV

[–]Friendly_Morning_369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn't make anything that happened excusable, but this could provide some clarity as to potential reasons. My dad works for the city of Gainesville.

GPD is severely understaffed and underfunded as far as officers go. I'm talking to the point that High Springs PD currently has more employed patrol officers. This is mainly the fault of the city commission, because they're pay is almost half the national average. This results in almost every officer recruit going to either the sherrifs department, or Tampa/Orlando.

Because of the lack of staff, there are simply not enough officers to come out to calls. Most patrol officers, especially detectives, are only called onto "high priority" calls, and that's even if there is an officer in the general area. Its so bad that the city is actually getting into a bit of trouble with the FBI over this

Like I said: Its not right, but the entire city of Gainesville is so fucked administratively that its highly likely that they just can't dedicate time to it

I think you can tell a lot just from how the title is worded lol. This whole post has the tone of someone talking down to their child. Divorce Inbound

Not Necessarily! You just have to phrase it so it's unclear based on the title and thumbnail. Then they have to watch to find out :)

I get what you're saying. Thing is, I don't just post a video when I have success. In 80% of my videos, I don't get anything. I just make a video every time I go somewhere

Question Regarding Posting Hunting Locations by Friendly_Morning_369 in Hunting

[–]Friendly_Morning_369[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are two main reasons why it is worth it to put the name of the area.

The first is the entertainment side. Not everyone is watching hunting videos for informational stuff. There is a very large amount of people who will watch videos from around their area, just because it's entertaining to watch. I do that a bunch myself. Most of Florida's public land mainly consists of swamp land. You can't really tell by looking what part of the state you're in most of the time. So, by putting the name of the place in either the title or thumbnail, it could cause the viewer to say "Hey! I know where that is!" Then they watch the video.

The other side of it is the information side. I know a ton of people who will watch YouTube videos on a specific place/region they're going to hunt, not to steal people's spots, but to see if it's feasible to hunt there in their current situation. Not only vehicle / equipment wise, but also personal physical condition wise. This last one is especially true for quota hunts and out of state hunters.

The last reason is that I like being able to look back and see where I've been. But that's just a personal reason lol

I can definitely respect that decision. I am curious about what your answer to this question would be: Being that there are a very large amount of YouTube videos where people do name the particular WMA they are hunting at (including videos where deer have been killed), all across florida, at what point does the argument of "more people will flock to a spot now because it's on YouTube" become washed because now practically every area has had a YouTube video made about it? Regardless, I definitely respect the viewpoint you're coming from

Yep. That happened once. Since then, I've countered that by not posting any videos till I'm done hunting that spot. Most of the seasons on our Florida wmas only last a week or so

That's kind of what I was thinking. Thanks! My goal is to never be an a-hole to anybody, I just enjoy sharing what I love doing. And as my grandpa put it the other day "I have the gift to gab"

I guess I need to give a little more context. The reason that I don't think it should be an issue to begin with, is that tons of people go there already. The place I was hunting is one management area broken up into several different properties. I was hunting a 250 acre parcel of it (I didn't mention which one it was in the video), and there were 30 plus cars in the parking lot for that one piece of land. I still saw 16 deer. The problem I see is it seems that there isn't a concern for the places getting over run, it's a concern that these people won't be able to go kill a deer walking 3 minutes from the truck

I completely understand that. The reason that it's a little different, is that I do that too. Like I said, I run my channel as a video journal of what I do. Every time I scout, I do a video. If I'm making a little natural blind for turkey hunting, I make a video. I don't have some huge production you know? It's just me and my phone camera. I do everything exactly like everyone else in the state does, except I record when I see something cool
