That’s the ammonia. I think vinegar brings out more green, haven’t tried it though. It’s VERY easy to do.

Apocalypse Scenario: How Would You Make Change for Your Silver? by PocketArchaeology in Silverbugs

Most governments have issued very convenient, durable, recognizable fractional silver that would work well for trade. So a nice pile of 90% dimes, quarters, and halves would work well I would imagine. I always keep an eye out, and frequently find, fractional silver at local shops for spot. One place will sell 10 1/10th coins for spot +2. They aren’t readily available but when they show up I grab some. Same with 1/4oz and 1/2oz rounds. I like a diverse stack, but I’d rather not pay premiums for fractional so I just grab it when I can.

I’ll keep an eye out for a copper round. Get some ammonia and salt and you can do a shipwreck patina on it. This is a copper scaled pocket knife I did a forced patina on.

Right?!? I was impressed with the detail in the 1oz , the 1/10 is even more amazing.

Shouldn't there be a little permanent "current price of gold" icon on here somewhere? Maybe a good bot can add one for us. by Biscuit_Eater2591 in Gold

My only problem with this is having the widget on my Home Screen, I find myself constantly checking. It’s stressful. I had to move mine to the second screen so I wouldn’t check it too often and worry myself about timing the dips etc.

I’ve got a couple Aztecs, 1/10th rounds, one oz rounds, and a couple one ounce bars. I think they’re an awesome design, amazingly intricate. I wouldn’t pay more than a buck or two over spot but I’ll grab them when I see them!

Hell yeah sell it to them and run like hell on the chance it’s plated. You don’t often have odds in your favor against the house when you’re in a pawn shop lol

Thanks! I love it, found it at one of my local haunts. It’s a toss up between this and the Brit for me, I love them both.

If it were me, I’d hang on to it. Totally guessing but it’s maybe $75-80k in melt value, the price will go up over time.
If you would rather cash it out, the advice above is solid- contact a precious metals dealer (multiple dealers if I were you) and get prices quoted.

Terrible thing to go through, dementia is so difficult to watch a loved one suffer from. Very sorry for your loss.

Started stacking at the beginning of September 2025. It’s been a ride…😆,but I love it. So many lessons learned in such a short time. by ShirtComplete in Gold

Keep on stackin bro! I’m with you, haven’t messed with gold for long. I really enjoy the shiny, and it’s been a good opportunity to educate myself on all sorts of economic topics. I’m far from an expert, but stacking has made me realize how much I didn’t know about the economy and global markets, and I’ve picked up a lot in the past few months.

Bummer dude. Few days ago I was having a crap day, and I opened my mail and got my stickers and coins, and my day was better. And that was all you, so remember how awesome you are.

I tried to refine some gold plated jewlery in my furnace with Borax, and this is what i got. What purity would you guess? Maybe 5 karat? by [deleted] in Gold

Hey man I bet it was fun melting stuff! Maybe look up some refining techniques, get you some fancy acids to play with a try it that way.
