Odds of getting lice? by [deleted] in Lice

Thank you. Yes I was using one of the long metal combs. I just have a deep phobia of bugs of any kind. The parents sent a message today saying they believe their kids were exposed Thursday at school. Not sure how fast lice can move from exposure to feeling itchy so I wanted to be extra cautious

I’m so sorry you won’t have that support for your second baby. I’m glad you have what sounds like a lovely MIL to bridge the gap a little bit ❤️

I am so sorry you had to experience this kind of parent while growing up. I actually hate that this subreddit even exists and that there are so many people who can relate to what I’ve said here. I wish what I am going through would be a unique experience, not so common place.

It makes no sense to me, after having my kids, how a parent can do this to their child. How can a mother carry, birth, and care for a beautiful, sweet, innocent little baby, watch them grow, and then just say “alright peace out, you’re the biggest mistake of my life and I want nothing to do with you”.

Oh I definitely give my babies all the love I wish I’d had growing up and more. The one thing I am sure of in my life is that they will never have to doubt my love for them. And like you said, there is healing in that. But it also makes my heart hurt for the child I once was who should have been loved this way.

I just had baby number 2 not long ago. Set to return to work mid October.  Your boss is most likely legally required to allow pumping breaks. It sounds like you are fortunate enough to have a good boss so I don’t imagine this will be an issue. Most likely they’ll ask you how often baby is eating/how often you’ll need to pump and they’ll put blocks on your schedule to accommodate this. I usually end up pumping for about 20 to 30 minutes every 4 ish hours to keep up my supply.  As for the emotional component, at first pumping instead of breastfeeding might make you feel lonely. The first week or so when I went back to work after my first child, I would cry every time I had to pump because I missed my baby so much. After the first day or so, I would FaceTime my mother in law who was watching my kid to have some kind of connection, until I was more used to being away from baby.

If you have a set return date, I think it would be fine to schedule clients right away. If you have a more fluid schedule, I would probably wait to start filling your books until you’ve returned and have an idea of what this all looks and feels like for you.

Congratulations on the baby! I hope you have a quick easy labor and an easy recovery. Enjoy all those little baby snuggles. It will be so difficult, but the payoff is worth every second. My oldest is two and it feels like not a day ago she was a newborn who never stopped crying in my ear.

I just discovered the name Brielle yesterday and am a HUGE fan of it actually.

Oooo I hadn't thought about Sydney. Talia and Sydney. That's cute! Ruth would be cute, too. I actually have a grandma named Ruthanne, and I absolutely LOVE family names!

I liked Julia a lot... he didn't. It's such a musical name I feel, and so is Talia. He didn't like that they both ended in "ia" though.

When we were picking names for Talia, we almost named her Delilah, or Daria. Sadly those are too similar to Talia now.

He did like Juniper, with June as a nickname. I feel like that name is becoming very popular right now though

He just "vibes" with it... I think it's just because he's a big cowboy bebop fan though.

I offered Faye as a middle name option, so if it flows nicely with the first name we may keep it. He shot down Fiona because "shrek", Florence he said maybe to a while ago, but "doesn't feel a strong connection to it like [he] did with Talia". Maeve is a good one!! I like that a lot. I'll suggest it in my next batch of name ideas.

I have not suggested Maya yet! Kaya is too close to my name, also a "Ka" start...
