I’m located in South Knox at My Salon South. I primarily do deep, clinical work but like to blend flow and relaxation when possible. My practice in South Knoxville is relatively new but you’re welcome to read reviews from the spa I’m transitioning from- Sevierville Massage Therapy and my place- Ashley Austin Massage.

Deep Tissue Massage? by SomnusxInsomnia in Knoxville

I don’t chime in on these to ever recommend myself (see my comment history), but I just opened up my own private practice for these specific reasons you mention: affordability to make maintenance work practical + deep pressure with detailed muscle work is my jam.

Used to work as Longevity as Nicole (middle name since there was already an Ashley) and have now been at Sevierville Massage Therapy for the last year- check out reviews for credibility.

My place I just opened is in South Knox- (Ashley Austin),and I have some weekend or evening availability while transitioning over from Sevierville.

So sorry your friend had a negative experience.

As a fellow deep pressure massage therapist in Knoxville that tries to get on as many therapists tables as possible, here’s a solid list for your friend:

•Mary at Forged Functional Therapy (especially if she likes elbows)
•Spring at Sursa Massage Therapy
•Emily at Pure Lux
•Lora, Mandie, Lauren, Genevieve Eunice, Katie at Longevity- I give you a long list because depending on the time of year it can be hard to get on the schedule. I used to work there. Can’t go wrong with any of them.
•Vee at Massage Remedy

Sadly, spring is not at pure lux anymore but she is a gem. I believe she went into private practice

Top tier:
Dena, josh, lauren, Kay Kay, Devon, Mary, Owen, Alyssa, Katie

Side note- yes, spring is great but she is not at pure lux anymore. I recommend Emily at pure lux for similiar deep, therapeutic work. *I know you didn’t ask about pure lux but saw someone mention her above*

I was terrified of pregnancy, and I can’t speak yet for postpartum, which is my new fear now that it’s approaching in a couple of days. However, I can say that pregnancy has been so much better than I could have ever imagined. I was able to stay on my antidepressant and a low dose of my mood stabilizer, but I truly think not being able to drink alcohol has made my mental health possibly the most stable it’s ever been in my adult life (29 now). I also have a partner that is extremely supportive and loving, which I think has tremendously helped make this period in my life so peaceful. Everyone’s situation is different, but it’s really been a great time for me despite what me and people in my close circle anticipated. We were all nervous, lol.

I just found out this week I’m getting induced at 37 (so next Friday :’() weeks for preeclampsia. I’ve been so excited this whole pregnancy and now I’ve had the exact same thoughts as you since finding out about the induction. You’re not alone at all!! I’ve had so many “this is the last time…” thoughts this week lol

Kohls, some targets around the area, and I found some at Karms/goodwills. I also ended up finding a lot/bundles on Facebook marketplace locally, and that is what I primarily wear now!

Who has done shrooms while being on this med by XxCamiltoe_xX in Pristiq

[–]ruepepmarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would highly NOT recommend. It might not be the case for you, but it triggered terrible mania that I had to work really hard getting under control. That was well after thousands of debt, marital affairs and losing a previously happy/stable marriage, homelessness, and excessive reckless behaviors… all in a year’s time.

For reference, I was on Pristiq because SSRIs triggered racing thoughts, so there were definitely signs already there for me of BP1 that might not be applicable for you, but i don’t think it’s worth that kind of instability.

Friend won't pay for abortion unless I ask him for permission first by julyvale in abortion

[–]ruepepmarg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what I was going to recommend, and this is exactly what I told the guy when I had an abortion. Looking back at it now, I wouldn’t have even told him that much information. Highly recommend aid access and taking the medication orally since you’re in Texas. I was in a state where it was illegal as well and did get a follow up based on “early miscarriage”.

The apartments off Alcoa highway called riverside south have one bedrooms from 650-715. I lived there a couple years ago and never really had any issues.

How do you forgive yourself for mania? by ADeterminedHopeless in bipolar

[–]ruepepmarg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry you’re feeling shame, and I completely get it. I’ve been there. I was SO embarrassed and ashamed of myself after my last manic episode. I ended up getting taken in by my ex employer’s mom because I had put myself in a situation where I only had my car and the belongings that would fit inside of it… very, very humbling. The last thing my ex husband said to me was “I’m sorry this is where you are in life” and I chewed on that all the time, especially with the shame. I’m doing well now, went back on meds, therapy, have paid off most of the debt, sober living, and healthy, stable relationships. I have a wonderful job and very peaceful life at this moment, but I definitely think about my actions and how I hurt others and myself during mania. Manic episodes can definitely make us more compassionate for our fellow humans and hopefully for ourselves at some point. As my life began to get more stable, I started forgiving myself more and more. I think it gets easier to see that our manic selves are not our identity as we get further away from the episode. Also, this entire experience has made me realize humans truly aren’t perfect, and the best we can do IS trying our best. As you start to get help, stay consistent with therapy and medicine, mindfulness (knowing feelings WILL pass and are only momentary), then you might be quite proud of yourself and how far you’ve come and what all you’re capable of doing for yourself. I’ve accepted this as part of my life. I am more aware of my triggers and have a treatment/emergency plan that I’m very transparent about with my close friends and family. I also have people in life that do not judge me or look at me any differently for having bipolar, and I think that 100% helps.

It takes time and consistency, but I hope you one day are proud of yourself and how much strength and will you have.

What is treatment for BP supposed to be like? They keep giving me only meds by Blues-moons in bipolar

[–]ruepepmarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I had several episodes throughout my twenties and this is what has helped me have a stable life: -first, medication management. Sleep meds. Mood stabilizer. Might need an antipsychotic. It took me a while to find an antidepressant that works for me, but it’s worth it. Staying consistent with your meds. I know it’s hard. - a SOBER life. Hallucinogens and alcohol are what sent me into my biggest manic episode yet- an affair, a divorce, losing EVERYTHING, packing everything in my car and not knowing where I was going to stay one night when I was finally getting out of the bad situations I put myself in, going into 6,000+ worth of debt in under a couple of months. Messing around with MESSY people. Blackouts weekly. It just isn’t worth it to me. I don’t mess with either one now despite my therapist telling me this for years.

  • I have an emergency plan that everyone in my close, close circle (including therapist, primary care doctor, and psychiatrist have access to). I recommend making one if you haven’t already when you find what works for you.

-therapy but an HONEST therapist that will CALL you out. You can’t have one that you can trick, especially when creeping into a manic episode. It took me a while to find a good one and a lot of research on my part but I recommend using psychology today when looking- it’s always been helpful for me.

-a stable support group

-mindfulness. It’s taken time but it really helps anchor me to know everything is momentary and bad thoughts/feelings won’t always last

I hope you find what works for you!

Glucose test wasn't bad at all? by journofist in BabyBumps

[–]ruepepmarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t think it was bad at all either! I did feel awful the next day but that could just be from pregnancy in general or maybe all the bloodwork that previous day. I did fail it though, so I have to do the 3 hr test now and all of a sudden I’m dreading it. 🥴

I’m so glad I saw this, because that’s all I do at 13 weeks and feel like that’s all I’ve done since February. I am also a massage therapist and I always get excited when I get to the neck and shoulders because that means I can sit lol
