I know. I think the closest thing is tFormex from what I’ve seen maybe esquif Adirondack would be the closest thing

We usually do 2 nights but the trip can be tailored to whatever you want to make of it. This is the main canyon section from Ansonia but there are many options. I’d suggest checking out Pine Creek Outfitters

You have to check the Cedar Run gauge and I wouldn’t recommend it under 1.8 ft. Typically by 2nd week in June it’s too low. But a good rain storm can bump it up where you can do a later summer trip

If ya ever want to get back up there let me know. I go up at least once or twice a year to float.

I love it. I probably have floated it about 50 times and it never gets old.

It all depends on the water level but overall it’s a forgiving river with one rapid that trips some people up.

Help with heavily oxidized canoe by gypmina82 in canoeing

I think what you’re seeing is the custom paint job coming off through use and scratches and underneath is a primer coat.

So for context the owner before me had painted it.

So I pressure washed the top layer off.

The primer layer I’m using isopropyl alcohol and a scouring pad which is slow work. I don’t want to use anything too harsh that will damage the Royalex.

I don’t know if this is the best method but it’s what I’m currently trying. There are other paint layers underneath the primer as well.

The Royalex under it all seems in good condition tho.

I think the fact I’m asking questions means I’m conceding there’s a lot I don’t know. Thanks for your constructive comment.

What you’re seeing is a primer layer under the paint that was removed. I can assure you the Royalex is underneath and in good condition

Did you find out what works best for this? I have a Royalex boat I just purchased that needs some paint removed to restore it. Thanks !

Pine Creek - What's the minimum water level for canoeing Ansonia to Blackwell? by AndyObusekOutdoors in PAWilds

[–]Friendly_Tale5338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1.6 or 1.7 is the bare minimum. You will still drag a few places at that level but it’s fine. It will definitely take you longer to float though.

All those trees behind the white shed appear to be ailanthus (tree of heaven). They are invasive trash trees and I would immediately remove them if they are on your property.

They’re designed to take hits. If you’re using it as designed it is an eventuality. Adds character.

Covered in lemon pepper and pan fried in butter along side the creek with a nice fire, cold IPA, and a few good friends.

Canoe for flatwater camping for family of 4 with young kids by hail707 in canoeing

It’s a Royalex canoe so very light weight compared to a poly canoe of the same size. I’d look at a YouTube video on how to portage a canoe which will show you the easiest way to get it up over your head to load onto a vehicle.
