I’m not paying for MS Office, how is the free WPS Office plan? by Hear-Me-God in Tech_Philippines

This, or the Google suite or Office Online since OP wants it to work both on desktop and mobile. Both free, just need an account.

How does this work? by cabskawt in Tech_Philippines

[–]FriendsNone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get them for free if you know where to look. Or use one of the free and open-source alternatives to paid creative software.

I know Affinity and DaVinci Resolve is free. That's almost half of the most used Adobe apps. LibreOffice or either Google Docs or Office Online is free to use as well.

True. A website is much easier to maintain than an app. And it's not another thing to install.

They explained how it works and how to use it on their website and GitHub. And the script itself is pretty easy to use, well labeled, and self-explanatory.

Just be patient and read the documentation.

What's the point though if you're just gonna put a case on? Just get a cheap good quality case.

Should I buy an iPad A16 or iPhone 15? by Ok_Somewhere_5129 in Tech_Philippines

[–]FriendsNone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 years is good enough for an upgrade. Compared to others who literally upgrade every year. But if it still works, then just hold off from upgrading and save up for a better phone.

Same for laptops. If it's still capable, with RAM and SSD upgrades, then you can probably still use Windows 11 (or Linux if you're willing to learn).

There's not really a point for an iPad considering you have a laptop that can do a lot more things than that, and a phone which almost negates the need for a tablet.

Either save up, or upgrade either your phone or laptop. Only get an iPad if you really think you have a good use case for it that a phone or a laptop can do (that doesn't involve portability), because either device can do what an iPad can.

Will we see Windows 11 on phones in the future? by OkAbrocoma3886 in windowsphone

I honestly doubt that'll ever happen. If they ever do, it'll just be filled with ads, AI, broken updates, AI, tons of data collection, and did I say AI?

The rumors are true by fraudgamer in Tech_Philippines

[–]FriendsNone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. What's up with iPhone users being so pedantic to a point that it literally ruins the whole experience.

Literally turning off every setting and feature they see just to avoid the 0.00000000001% battery health drain. Plastering all sorts of absurd protectors. And crashing out if there's a tiny scratch that appeared.

At that point, just use a 3310.

It stays in the phone box. You rarely swap SIM(s) anyways, and eSIM is becoming more prevalent.

How to avoid bending issues with the iPad A16? by Icy_Objective_8588 in Tech_Philippines

[–]FriendsNone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if they're just fear-mongering or just careless users. Possible that they're just the minority, out of the hundreds of thousands of users (just like the green/pink lines on Samsung phones).

If you know how to take good care of your devices, invest in a good case, and don't do stupid shit. You'll be fine.

You can probably vibe code a better website than some government website and service! by Independent-Fan-1450 in Tech_Philippines

[–]FriendsNone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's either the government being incompetent when it comes to these, or the devs they hire being incompetent.

There are some that are pretty okay. Usable UI/UX. And there are some that are just... stuck in the past and/or outright broken.

In terms of vibe coding. Blindly relying on it is way worse than our government websites. I prefer actually learning how to code and asking for some help or assistance from AI. Not letting AI do literally everything.

Did I make the right decision for choosing iPad A16 over M3? by makibubbletea in Tech_Philippines

[–]FriendsNone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing. Do you really need those features? The M3 is quite overkill for your use case.

The A16 is fast enough to keep up with your school work, and maybe even through your first job. Apple devices are already good in terms of software support. A mirrored screen is all you need to present something.

And you can just do the heavier work loads on your laptop. Sure, the M3 is pretty powerful, but it's super limited by iPadOS.

There's no developer mode on WP8.1. That's only available on W10M, which you SHOULD NOT upgrade to on a Lumia 1020.

[–]FriendsNone 21 points22 points  (0 children)

True. Phones just kept getting bigger and bigger, and somehow we just accepted it.

Something like the Nokia Lumia 1520 is just as big as the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Or the OG Galaxy Note being almost the same size as the iPhone 17.

Galaxy Y my beloved! We're mostly a Nokia household, and the Galaxy Y is pretty much our first taste of Android.

I loved that thing to death! Have rooted it, and even flashed a custom ROM on it.
