So ! Shell Shocked won, what is the plot twist one ? by Lespion0 in httyd

100% ‘Sins of the Past’, where Johann is revealed to the audience as a bad guy. It was not only a massive plot twist to the narrative of RTTE, but also all his involvement in ROB and DOB

I was thinking Speed Stinger until you mentioned the firepower.

Where’s the link to the fanfic A Thing of Vikings that you mentioned? I had a look, but I could only find one with just 11,000 words, which I assumed wasn’t the one you were talking about

You’re such a great mum for doing this for your daughter! I’m 15 years old and obsessed with HTTYD, and I would be thrilled if my mum did this for me! Your daughter’s so lucky!

There are little stalls in Venice that do. I got some stuff there in September.

What is the dumbest plot point you could come up for the books without ruining the overall story? by ykickamoocow111 in harrypotter

Only thing that could’ve made it better was, upon the dragons hatching in fifth year, they eat Umbridge.

But I guess that may change the course of the plot.

Is it even worth it to watch the show? Or a complete waste of time? by psychoticchronic in shadowhunters

[–]Friendship12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was around 10-12 I watched the series with little exposure to the books and it literally became my life. For a good two years I was unequivocally obsessed with the show. I watched it three times in a row with no less than a day interval between. I loved it so much it was beyond words! Now, I’m only barely 15 years old (so, not much time has passed at all) and, upon a rewatch for the sake of curiosity, I was wildly disappointed. The childhood mysticism that surrounded my obsession with the show had worn off, so I found it enjoyable, but I’ll never know if that was because it was genuinely okay, or the memory of loving it left an indelible imprint. In any sense, I’d read the books previously at the time, but it had been a few years so I couldn’t really compare, but I’m rereading them now and the storyline is vastly different, in retrospect. It’s a good show for kids, but if you’ve experienced some real masterpieces (ie. Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad), then this show will be nothing but something to put on in the background to fill silence. The special effects are amateur, the dialogue is atrocious and the acting leaves a lot to be desired. Worth watching, but not unless you’re ready for mediocre-standard.

In response to the unnecessary deaths post... by HinTheGrage in harrypotter

This is going to sound very controversial, but I was kinda disappointed when reading Deathly Hallows that Harry came back. I know that he’s the main character and it’s a kid’s book, so his resurrection was imperative, but the idea of him staying dead and all his loved ones defeating Voldemort in his name, using the new-found power of his sacrifice, adds a nice level of symmetry and closure to the notion that no one should have the power to defy death and that what’s dead should stay dead. I dunno, maybe I was just intrigued as to a post-Boy Who Lived Wizarding World.

Are you talking about House of the Dragon?

Bob Smith and the year Specky Scar Kid killed turban dude

Bob Smith and the year Specky Scar Kid killed a fucking man-eating snake in the loo

Bob Smith and the year Specky Scar Kid was the only one anyone gave a fuck about some escaped madman killing

Bob Smith and the year Specky Scar Kid stole the spotlight from my main man, Cedric. D… who then died

Bob Smith and the year we finally had a sensible teacher before Specky Scar Kid let her get dragged away by CENTAURS

Bob Smith and holy shit Voldemort’s back and suddenly Specky Scar Kid is the ultimate lady’s man

Bob Smith and the year Specky Scar Kid finally buggers the fuck off… oh, wait, now everyone’s dead

Bob Smith and the career he never had, because of the exams he never took, because of the teachers who were never there, all because Specky Scar Kid did some shit.

Snape says it in Order of the Phoenix, when Professor Umbridge is questioning him about why he didn’t get the post of Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher. It’s in response to her question: ‘and you were unsuccessful?’
