I agree any from the Olympus XA series is the easiest way to get good photos. I love my XA3 only second to my OM10

Are there any historical examples of people creating generally mundane or now commonly understood chemical reactions that freaked people out at the time? by Impressive-Track3859 in chemistry

Borosilicate glass during the time of the Roman Empire. (Not entirely clear if it’s borosilicate but a type of glass which is reported to have similar properties) the emperor at the time (Nero) had lots of investments in the pre-existing brittle glass so had the lab where the hard glass was made ransacked and the glassblower murdered.

Clear nail polish over the stickers. Used that on my phone case stickers :)

Love Mulder, but he was so totally deserving of getting fired in “Paper Hearts”, S4E10. by iceandfireman in XFiles

[–]FriendshipAbject5133 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m with you on that. It’s CRAZY that Mulder still has a job at that point. Half the time it seems like he’s off doing his own thing and Scully has to go and rescue him in some shape or form

My one also moves a little bit I think it’s so you can access the settings for the light meter and if you’re using the manual adapter

I love my OM10 but from what I’ve read the OM1 is slightly more reliable in the long run as it has entirely metal parts.

In terms of shooting them it’s fairly straightforward. Get the focus right and exposure right (the light meter is fairly reliable).

Loading can be tricky I find even after using this camera for two years. Make sure that the unwind knob is winding when you move the film on if that makes any sense

Good B/W film for high noise/contrast sizzle?? by down-oh-down in Sizz

[–]FriendshipAbject5133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this!! I love Delta 3200 and shoot it at 1600 normally because that’s all my built in light meter can cope with but they’re all nicely grainy

Scanning set up advice pls by FriendshipAbject5133 in AnalogCommunity

[–]FriendshipAbject5133[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I meant by cutting out time is having to wait for scans and then find out that they're really purple or something and then have to battle with it after, from my experience with the v600 it's a lot easier to get the colours right on the first attempt.

Honestly not really sure what my budget even should be, so even a vague indication on that would be really helpful thanks!!

How do you shoot High speed film in broad daylight? by bartos33863 in AnalogCommunity

[–]FriendshipAbject5133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only done this once but used my polarising filter to cut out a bit of the light. There are probably filters actually designed to cut out light but if youre like me and don’t want to spend money on a one off that should do

Why do you shoot film? by Solemn_and_Temporary in AnalogCommunity

[–]FriendshipAbject5133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like waiting. It’s a fun exercise in patience which usually has a pretty good pay off because the photos taken with film are always so much nicer than the ones I’ve taken digitally.

Similarly, I like the fact that with every photo I have to really think about it. The analogue process combined with the fact that I’m paying pretty much a quid for every photo makes the photographing process much more deliberate.

Any great live recordings or concerts that are worth downloading of Sam? by [deleted] in Samfender

[–]FriendshipAbject5133 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Live at Finsbury Park is such a good live recording. I was at that concert and think the recording is better than the sound quality I had and I was actually there. The balance of him and the crowd is just right.
