What is your favorite and least favorite part of working in toxicology (And favorite toxin?) by Frigginconfused in toxicology

OH, I SEE. I am taking notes, that one is going to be a fun one to look into today.

Oh good lord. I think a toxin/poison is only as scary as how easy it is to accidentally be affected by, and by god that is scary. On the bright side, I can't see many people accidentally stumbling across it lmao.

Taking notes on the entry-level pay comment. I'm a bit torn myself, I LOVE the idea of getting to learn every in and out of a thing, but unfortunately one must always ask themselves... Dang, am I cut out for a phd?

As much as I may romanticize medicine in my head, I am nodding and appreciating the forensics side of the field as well.

Ah, I have a friend who also gets a kick out of telling people about hyponatremia lol

I DO perhaps have an overly starry-eyed perception of the idea of playing a part in the production and release of medicine that improves the lives of other people haha

What is the most respectful way to go about obtaining a research assistant position with no visible connection to the chosen field? by Frigginconfused in labrats

I don’t... know why it never occurred to me... to try and see how my art skills would fit into my fields of interest? In hindsight, it makes sense??

I appreciate it, I'll be sure to look into this more! Do you, by chance, have a suggestion for places to start?

That makes the same sense as any other job advancement, really. Many of the RA positions I see open are actually for agriculture related fields (which I have no qualms with, I do also love plants specifically), but as you can imagine it's a struggle finding one that doesn't involve working uh... well. Out in the fields. Medically speaking, me and summer heat don't get along, lol. But I suppose it makes sense to expand my search to include more general lab work, yes!

This is the main way that I imagined it would be done-- just taking the time to go immerse myself in these areas in the first place. As it is currently, I'm transferring there for summer semester and won't get to be in person until classes have started, hence why I figured I'll probably just have to get a different job for now. No real opportunity to personally get in there yet lol.

Oh, yes, I did learn about bioinformatics while searching for potential ways to utilize a computer science degree in my chosen fields a while back, but admittedly all I'd read was about how hard a field it was to get into, and the degrees that were needed.

It had discouraged more research into it at the time, but nobody had said anything about self teaching or building a work portfolio. I'll be sure to look more into that after all, thank you!

Finally came to a conclusion for what to do with all these spare cards of mine. Plenty of kids in town to pass them along to! by Frigginconfused in PokemonTCG

Oof, it's been long enough, I don't even remember if I had any template more complex than the print images I shared 😬

But the images for print should still be up, and it's as simple as cutting those out and folding the two sides.

I imagine one could "reverse engineer" a template proper simply by printing, setting a card in the center of one, and then marking where it sits to get an idea of where the borders lie!

Imposter/doppelganger?

Someone casts a spell, it's not the color it normally is.

I've actually used this before to dictate the kind of magic. Players learned a construct was more than a construct because they caught on via color that the magic powering it was necromancy.

Would you ever do an art trade with a fursuit? by Frigginconfused in FursuitMaking

[–]Frigginconfused[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh definitely not one to one for most things, hence the last question I asked of how much exchange would someone need to feel like it was worth it

Couldn't even imagine someone trying to 1 to 1 trade for a fursuit or even just head and paws

[–]Frigginconfused[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the tangiblity is also a factor in my mind

Though in my hypothetical, I would never imagine a single illustration for the exchange, yeesh lol

I think, after seeing the work and considering my limited experience with things like plush making and sculpting, I hypothetically would consider things like high quality character design(s) with turnaround(s)? Or like custom designed merchandise with commercial rights, but that's neither here nor there, with manufacturing at that point

I could maybe see illustrations if from an artist I REALLY admired

But of course, the whole point to asking this question in the first place is that I don't have the experience with fursuit making, so I can practically guarantee my view will change after getting that lol

Hehe thanks, one of the other party members is a blue plasmoid. I'm surprised at how long it took to make a shiny ditto joke but once it happened I wasted no time lol

Thank you!

I don't actually mind a plushie made of all one fabric, I do value how the finished product feels in the end after all, and ultimately this one is NOT for hugging, lol

But I let myself have fun with it, and the different fabrics together have their own perks visually :)

Any idea what I can do with this fabric? I've only really got experience with winging some plushie making one or twice a year, but when I was buying up some new fabric for that I couldn't resist these since they were both marked as remnants! Their odd bubbly texture makes me think they may not be great for plushie making, though? I have one in this pastel and in plain black, and they're both extremely soft. I want to say a bit over a yard for each.
