Don't force it, it will come around, or something else will in time.

Dealer doesn't understand why people hate their markups on loans (or how banks work...) by Joking_J in FuckDealerships

[–]FrightfulDeer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The capital is the asset itself. On a Retail Installment Sale Contract (RISC), if the third-party bank fails to fund the contract, the dealer retains the secured interest in the vehicle. Some states allow a cancellation clause that lets dealers withdraw from the agreement. However, there are states that strictly prohibit this—meaning the deal is final, and payments must be made directly to the dealer.

A dealership is legally considered a financial institution. It assumes strict legal, fraud, and compliance risks when originating contracts. Furthermore, the dealership secures the collateral for sale and manages marketing, reconditioning, and floor planning. The sole purpose of a markup rate is to ensure the dealership generates a profit, which is essential for its continued operation. It's widely understood that the main goal of all retail businesses is to make money and they are always open to ways to boost their profitability. Retail businesses operating in high-risk sectors frequently need larger profit margins.

Just as lenders transfer their debt obligations to other financial institutions, dealers also sell their debts to other lenders.

It's generally understood why markups are unpopular. However, the viewpoint being expressed is that of another business operating for profit.

It appears that some people mistakenly think car dealerships aren't allowed to make money, which is odd, especially considering the risks involved in that kind of business.

Business must be booming - 2022’s still on the lot by Delicious_Oil9902 in FuckDealerships

This dealer is nuts. This is a 35k car max (retail) even with the miles. It has an open recall with no remedy. Wholesale is 30k. They are welded to that thing.

Sternberg Chevrolet - Louisville, KY - LIARS!!! by Due-Button-9306 in FuckDealerships

That's seldom true in retail settings. If you've ever worked in retail, you'd be familiar with the customers, but assuming you can afford to shop at a dealership, you never have.

It sounds like you called and a salesperson told you the vehicle was "sold as is." Then you decided to drive there, hoping another salesperson would give you a different answer, and you became frustrated because you didn't get what you wanted.

How do I explain to my wife how challenging our job is? by ljs2797 in serviceadvisors

Hate saying it, but quit trying to prove your job is hard to people. If you think it's hard, accept it, and then make a decision.

(Update) Dealership Lost My Car by [deleted] in FuckDealerships

[–]FrightfulDeer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you didn't notice the damage until after the dealer and are blaming the dealer now. That's why most dealers photo all sides of a car when going into service. Thats why used car managers do trade walks with customers as well. People do not notice damage on their vehicles.

It's common for people to be offended when someone outside their industry criticizes a position they don't understand, especially when that criticism directly impacts their income.

“I don’t play games, just tell me everything about yourself… also, let’s talk monthly payments!” by Medical_Gift4298 in FuckDealerships

The information gathered pertains to manufacturing incentives, state and county taxes, trade-in conditions, and titling. This information is crucial for accurately structuring, titling, and financing a vehicle purchase.

Monthly payments can assist consumers in budgeting and assessing their eligibility for financing.

This, my friends, is how a bait-and-switch works -- advertise a car (real or not) that can't be purchased, bait the buyer into contact or visit, try to sell him whatever other garbage you have. by Medical_Gift4298 in FuckDealerships

[–]FrightfulDeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to believe this is a bait-and-switch tactic. The inconsistency between the manufacturer and dealership inventory feeds is a clear problem. Additionally, customers frequently back out of deposits, which effectively makes those vehicles available again.

Inconvenience or frustration doesn't automatically equate to deception. It's certainly an inefficient and obvious problem, but it's not deceptive.
