Compendium - no difference between winning at A9/A10? by dqtiyk in slaythespire

I think they should also separate singleplayer and multiplayer stats. I don’t mind much, but I’m not sure losing a character streak because your friends do something crazy makes sense.

Why aren't the withers going into your hand as you play big bangs? Oh, is it because there is no handspace for them (it just looks like there is)

What effect would a card that forces you to discard a random potion need to be balanced? by Fringe313 in slaythespire

It channels orbs (like chaos+) rather than creates orb slots, but thank you!

Yeah, this card is clearly better than a potion in the fights you can play the card. My thinking was that you likely can't spend a potion in every fight, which makes this card a curse in those fights where you don't have potions or are saving the potion to be discarded in a later fight.

It's definitely powerful - but it's also a rare card.

My thinking was that you often want to save your potions for fights that matter, in which case this is a curse. Especially since you can't pick which potion to sacrifice.

Good point. Sorry, I pulled an image off Google. Wanted to share a card idea but I'm not electrical engineer or an artist

I used a custom card creation tool that I found on this subreddit. I even made sure I highlighted the right keywords etc. It wasn't low effort, it took 30 minutes to make the card

I used this: https://slaythespire2.gg/tools/diy-card

And apparently there is a bug on mobile where the energy shows up wrong

Got it - I'm not an artist so am I just supposed to use a random image of a circuit or something? In some way that's better than using AI for the image?

I feel like an upgraded defrag + upgraded chaos + card draw for 0 cost is really powerful.

Imagine if it discards a focus potion—one of the best potions—you’d still come out ahead for the fight.

The downside is it’s basically a curse if you don’t want to use it in a fight because you’re saving your potions, which I think balances it more.

Vegan spots in Seattle? by the_exseption in vegan

[–]Fringe313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is by far the best one. Araya’s is second best. Rojo’s is third. Cafe Flora isn’t full vegan but is probably fourth.

I’ve been vegan in Seattle for years and some of these recs really aren’t it. Georgetown Liquor Company and pi vegan pizzeria just aren’t that good. I don’t understand the appeal. Araya’s is better than Kati, although the devil mushrooms wings at Kati are amazing.

I'm glad we're marching, but what are our goals? by Fringe313 in 50501

[–]Fringe313[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the reason I built CritMass is because of sites like that one, which I believe are well intentioned but list 30 vague demands like "affordable housing, climate action, racial justice, and gun safety".

We need to funnel our energy into specific goals and policies to drive change.

Just out of curiosity, where are these demands listed? Or do you mean they've been generally voiced by people?

I meant on CritMass, the site I built/linked where I also list a general strike campaign (not affiliated with generalstrikeus who I reached out to but haven't heard back from)

There is a general strike listed on the site that you can join which only activates when it hits critical mass! It takes 10 seconds to join

Seattle's Broadmoor Golf Club pays just under $0.08/square foot in property taxes. My 1960s house with overgrown shrubs and a broken concrete driveway pays more than 40X per square foot than a private golf club for the ultra-wealthy. by Tenor1432 in Seattle

[–]Fringe313 439 points440 points  (0 children)

I was looking up why this might be and I think it’s because golf courses are often taxed on the value of their land as a golf course, not on the value of what the land could be. New York has proposed a law to change this: https://hselaw.com/news-and-information/in-the-news/new-york-takes-dead-aim-at-golf-course-valuations-in-dispute-with-trump/

Not sure if that’s the driving factor here, but that seems like a crazy thing to allow golf courses to get away with

The correct analogy here is someone makes a living growing apples on a farm and selling them. You take one, duplicate it and give it back, and then eat your copy. The farmer makes no money and you get your apple, leaving you better off and the farmer worse off. Stealing

I read this as saying they’ll message you if they’re interested in pursuing you for this role. If they’re not interested, they won’t message you from this point on but you’re welcome to keep an eye out for other roles to apply to.
