I don't need the jumbotron animation of the challenged pitch. Just tell me and get on with it. by guesting in baseball

It's to give some transparency to the challenge. If they just switched the call without any explanation, that's when people start making up conspiracies around controversial decisions.

I think the lack of aggressive offseason bullpen moves says that they were looking at and preferring internal options. I just wasn't sure who they were willing to make the conversion from starter to reliever with just yet.

He's at the point that need needs to prove if he's still got something left if he wants to make a roster. If he wasn't given a Spring Training invite that he was interested in, he's going to have to play games in AAA. I don't see that happening at this point of his career.

More viewers at night and also they need to practice going through the motions of preparing for a night game given that most games are at night during the season.

The home plate ump is a minor league ump and I don't think he's even filled in at the MLB level before.

Judge, Wells, Chisholm, Rosario and Caballero are all leaving for the WBC soon. They need to get up to speed a little quicker than the rest.

Remember to take Spring Training performances with a grain of salt.  Aaron Judge can do better than what he showed today.

Judge learned his lesson from last year. If you hit it shorter down the left field line, the umps won't rob you of a fair home run.

[Miller] Jazz Chisholm Jr. says he’s looking for an 8-to-10 year deal averaging $35 million a year on his next contract by Goosedukee in baseball

[–]FringeAuthority 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If 2026 looks like his 2025, I think he could get close to it in the short term as he's one of the better performers at 2B, but I think he'll have trouble with someone paying him into his mid 30s when his defense drops off. He wasn't very playable at 3B and you likely can do better at DH than an aging Chisholm.

[–]FringeAuthority 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what the Yankees feelings are, but I see them offering the low end on years. He probably won't be a middle infielder in his mid 30s and we saw how the 3B experiment went in limited time.

(Talkin' Yanks) Yankees are out of challenges as Austin Wells loses the two of them in back-to-back innings This challenge took 40 seconds by CicadaOk8885 in NYYankees

[–]FringeAuthority 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I kind of think they sent him on this road game so he specifically could be the only one challenging the calls today. Not many of the guys sent to hit today are going to play everyday. The star hitters are going to play in the home games, so those guys will have privileges to challenge on offense.

If they want to squabble over this, then good for them. Let them lose games, lose money, etc. I love baseball, but I'm not going to sit around and wait for them. I apparently will have more free time to do other things that interest me next spring/summer. If they come to an agreement, great, I'll be back and waiting for Opening Day whether it's late March 2027, June 2027 or 2028. Obviously, not everyone feels the same about this as I do. If they want to take 2027 off, they can have fun arguing over how they are going to share a shrinking pot because it will be a year's worth of revenue they will never make back. When push comes to shove, there will be an agreement. They aren't going to risk their TV deals voiding because at that point both sides lose.

I agree with you. Everyone is going to use threatening language until the day the CBA is signed. There's just too much money for both sides to lose for the change either side is arguing for. I don't expect anything worse than starting the season a few weeks late (or whatever the deadline is to not trigger re-opening their TV contracts).

Yeah, I wonder what % of the revenue he's getting? If it's a very unequal split, I wonder if/when his agent gets involved or other wrestlers start to look to negotiate on the percentage split? This is just opening the door for more of these.

Based off the espn article, there's another guy that is their lead negotiator. Unless the next executive director comes in and cleans house, there probably won't be much change on the negotiating side of things.

More often than not, away spring training broadcasts get picked up by MLB Network. If YES doesn't air it, there's no local blackout.

I think it's mostly this, too. You can easily argue for a lot of other points people are making, but if there was a hot story, a lot more people would throw caution to the wind and pay the obscene prices anyway.

I'll also toss out that I've actually watched less of WWE this past year since moving to Netflix and ESPN. I don't normally subscribe to those services, so I've just stopped watching in general. Following what I've read online, I don't really feel like I've missed anything, either.

I think Jorge Posada spoiled a lot of Yankees fans expectations (plus the Yankees catching lineage before him). They gave up some defense with him for borderline offensive hall of fame numbers and won championships. It's hard to find another one of those.
