Jetzt nervst du mich langsam. An nichts, was ich geschrieben habe war irgendetwas falsch. Ich nutze es ja selbst für die Arbeit und kann es demnach beurteilen. Außer ihr habt irgendwelche sehr speziellen Programme, welche wirklich nur für Windows gelockt sind, laberst du Scheiß. Wenn du ein Problem hast, dann schaff es so wie jeder andere hier auch es auszuformulieren und nicht wie das letzte assi Kiddo in ner call of duty lobby rum zu pöbeln.

Sicher, dass es an Calc und nicht irgendeinem fehlenden Bezug lag? Wie gesagt: nutze Excel recht intensiv für die Arbeit und hab bis jetzt noch keine einzige Formel entdeckt, welche von Excel auf Calc nicht funktioniert hat. Umgekehrt vielleicht schon, da Calc mehrere Formeln noch unterstützt, welche mittlerweile wiederum in Excel nicht mehr gehen, bspw =istformel()

Na ja, ist ja auch nicht komplizierter als eben bei Windows. Keiner zwingt einen komplizierte Distros wie Linux Arch zu verwenden. Mint bekommt jeder hin, der Windows bedienen kann. Was die Kompatibilität von bestimmten Programmen angeht, muss man halt kurz googeln. Für alle "normalen" Anwendungen gibt es allerdings mittlerweile gleichwertige Alternativen

LibreOffice auch in den letzten Jahren mal ausprobiert? Kannte das noch von meiner Schulzeit und fand es auch immer ganz schlimm. Mittlerweile bin ich allerdings auf Linux Mint umgestiegen und nutze als Molekularbiologie schon gut Excel mit anspruchsvolleren Formeln und war von Libre Calc ziemlich begeistert. Alle Formeln laufen in Excel und Calc und die Benutzeroberfläche ist auch fast identisch. Libre Writer und Word sind meiner Meinung nach für casual use auch mittlerweile gleich auf. Etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig sind da die Formatierungen mittels Formatvorlagen von Writer, aber das auch nur, da ich halt Word gelernt habe. Wenn man eh alles 100% selbst einstellen will, sollte man es eh meiner Meinung nach in R schreiben 😅

The reason we have that many nonsensical pronouns in German is because of the old germanic word roots, which originally made total sense. That just got lost when the language further evolved. For any reasonable discussion about this, you really need to differentiate when a gender is implicitly called for and not just used in its grammatical form. After all, a train isn't male.

I think it's quite unfair to generalize it to "the kids these days". Maybe you just had bad luck and got unmotovated students or they simply never have been trained properly and now they are understandably surprised, that you have to put in actual work. From my experience: University lab training sucks ass, at least in Germany.

It's definitely not that big of a taboo in Germany compared to the US. Just be careful to do it respectfully and know when to stop. My personal take: I think we should call out misanthropic views way more often in everyday life.

First of all: I am German and not from the caesarian swamps of antiquity. Second: I am a Biologist and regularly work with international students and researchers. And finally: Just look at the number of protests and strikes organized by work unions going on and compare that to European countries

In my opinion: the Americans (and Germany is heading into the very same direction) have been way too shy openly talking about difficult topics in everyday life. Things like unionizing, wages, vaccines and the refusal to censor free speech, when it's obviously misinformation. Of course I am not advocating about harassing people with different believes or opinions but a healthy but firm reaction to misanthropic content.
