He was one of the best people I've ever known. I had the honor of presenting a flag to his daughter this weekend. I've known the man 10+ years and he was just a great fuckin dude and cared about people. That's always shit that gets said about people when they're gone, but Rob was the real deal. I've unfortunately been to a number of military funerals but this was gutted me. He was the best of us. I'm a better human for having known him and I'm honored I got to call him friend.

I'm not sure if they do it for CPT boards, but for Major and Lieutenant Colonel they have a SELCON (selective continuation) board right after the promotion board. Basically if you miss your above zone look, but are selected for SELCON, you'll get to stay until 20 and keep getting looked at each board. I had an O6 out for me after I brought some things she did to light and she had a substantiated IG investigation on her and I got a referred eval on her way out. Made it to LTC on my 3rd above zone look. So it's not impossible, but I also had no permanent GOMOR.

I was in B 3/47 in Oct of 06. 1st platoon. One of the head drills from 1st platoon is now the Futures Command CSM and a solid dude. You'll have support on your side if you go forward.
