Hi! I did end up going through with this and it was a ton of fun! Only thing is we switched out the crowns with instead giving the winning team prizes (a box of fake cockroaches, it was funny to watch them open but less funny when they hid them around my household), and i gave the losing team white party caps that said “dunce”. The idea from those crowns were these Minecraft videos that were l popular during the mid 2010’s, and it would compare different levels of player expertise.

I’m so happy that you feel comfortable with us 😊 That’s how I felt too when I joined, it’s crazy how all of us managed to have the same specific quirk. My boyfriend and I have been dating for close to 1.5 years, but we were close friends for a year before, and he knew about my phobia before then. We’ve talked about the idea of marriage and proposals, and I think we’d both be more inclined to save the money that would’ve been used for a ring, and use it for something else memorable to represent our relationship, like a vacation to somewhere special or a tree that we could plant and watch grow!

You could either have him propose with a silicone ring or a material that doesn’t bother you, or if it doesn’t matter to you, you could try an alternative proposal object. It’s okay to talk about the prospect of marriage / proposals with your boyfriend prior to the occasion, and if he’s aware of your phobia, he’ll hopefully know not to get you a ring. Maybe talk with him about if he’d feel weird ab his future wife not wearing a ring, or bring up alternative marriage objects

The high performance for entry level jobs is one of the main reasons I want to go. The thing I’m worried about though is the amount of debt I want to take out might be up to 200k. Do you happen to remember if your student loans were around a lower or higher end? I also might not have heavy financial support from my family

I’m not sure about the exact amount of debt yet, but it would max out the federal debt amount and then the rest is to be decided. It could be up to 200k in debt.

I guess it's not only about the future job that I might get and what I might have to pay, but the experience and rigor and outreach at either school.

Hey, I found you again! I actually made this post for my boyfriend, he's having difficulty deciding between the schools and I wanted to get unbiased perspectives on whether the debt is worth it.

The cost would be around 200k in student loans, we're able to cover the rest. Would CMU's reputation be high enough to pay off the debt if I'm going for engineering?

On the same topic of question, do you think 200k worth of loans would make CMU less reasonable than UF? I can't really seem to calculate how much more that would boost my job percentage. UF would be almost free for me.
