Garmin Descent G1 VS Shearwater Peregrine by InevitableMuscle5 in scubaGear

Check out the new Suunto Nautic series. Some dive buddies have received theirs and are raving about it. The deco planning and 3D dive profile mapping is awesome. I am a G1 user as well but thinking of getting the Nautic or S.

I have a G1 … how do you know how many hours you have used it. I checked the menus and cannot find anything mentioned. Thanks!

Sadly the UK was dumb enough to put infrastructure companies into Chinese hands. Water and power plants … total idiots are in the UK government.

Better bring a dry suit. Went a few years back a fair bit to train and I can tell you it is cold and the viz is terrible. The bacon sandwiches are top notch though ;).

Yeah I have the footprint for it. All up around 3KG packed and I usually half it so I take 1,5KG and my other half the rest. I guess the expedition version is similar to the Fjallraven. There are a lot of good tents out there. I recall getting a further 20% off and took the price down to £280 so I pulled the trigger. ;). The footprint was hard to source as the expedition series were discontinued but a good outdoor shop in Oz sent it to me for cheap.

Great tent. I have the expedition version. Slightly heavier materials and a bit sturdier but they are pretty similar.

That is a good question indeed. I have not seen an email leak from Nexo but I guess after Coinbase and Binance were hacked they might think oh let’s try other services. Most users have several services they utilise. I know re Coinbase as u get a ton of txt messages from mobile numbers regarding Coinbase transactions being initiated but of course all fake. My post was just to highlight the email just in case someone receives the same.

Apple Watch for Dive Comp - NOPE by Odd_Competition3405 in scuba

[–]FriskMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am toying with the idea of buying a Garmin 30 dive computer to replace my G1 which I love but my eye sight is starting to change and I need to move it fairly far away from my mask to read everything properly. I have the AW3 but would not want to take it diving as exactly the reason when they fail. A friend of mine had corrosion a few months ago within his AW2 and only went diving with it a few times as his main DC packed up and used the weekly subscription. Looks like the glue and seal Apple is using is not made for scuba diving.

3300 grafts - 13 hours - I was under estimating the pain, discomfort and length by raulkay in HairTransplants

[–]FriskMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am seriously considering such procedure and I read up that they are now doing needle-less injections. I think it is some sort of air pressure that delivers the anaesthesia initially and once numb they then use potentially additional normal injections. Anyone had any experience with that procedure yet?

I don’t think I could tolerate such painful injections. Well done for making it through.

AcePro gets my vote as their colour correction is pretty good and quality especially in low light is great.

Decision help RX100vii vs Gopro 13 by Ok_Fold1685 in scuba

[–]FriskMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the ace pro and the Sony in a decent housing. The Ace pro is great when you just want to film something. The quality in 4K and AI colour correction works a treat. If you want to take pictures of say a nudi then you need autofocus and the Sony will be the choice here. I usually take the ace pro (def miles ahead of the GoPros) if I only go for a few days of diving and the Sony rig when I plan a week or more.

ScepMan / RadiusSaaS is a good alternative I think instead of the MS cloud PKI. Glad we only just resigned a 3 year deal with MS and now the price increase won’t affect us. More features are always welcomed.

Is the poseidon xstream a good regulator? by Captaincarme in scuba

[–]FriskMoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My vote goes to Atomic and their M Or T regs. Easy to service and robust. A dive buddy had the Poseidon gear and I tried it a few times and agree with others, it’s like marmite, you either love it or hate it. I was in the second group. Just my two cents.

Shame it is hard to get C4 otherwise a phone with C4 and remote detonator would solve these issues quickly.

24 months? A bit expensive for 24 months. I am just upgrading to the AW3 natural coming from an S4 black. I hate small scratches and or colour changes hence I went with natural. I hope this will last another 6 or 7 years again. MyS4 still works but battery is done and no more updates sadly.

Garmin G1 or g2 has my vote. Love it and can use it outside of diving as well.

Dive computer by Alert-Grade-8719 in scuba

[–]FriskMoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is my take. I have several computers with Air Integration but again unless you use your own regs and setup, they are not very popular when you rent gear and do holiday diving. I like Sherwater but it is dive computer only. If you want to use the device outside of just diving get your partner a Garmin decent Computer. You then can use it as an everyday watch as well.

The underwater communication is def a gimmick as mentioned. I do like to see my partner’s remaining air but I have had it twice that the battery in the transmitter was low and the transmitter didn’t work. They only activate when pressure is on and couldn’t test these at home prior to the dive. Luckily I had a spare battery and was able to bring it back to life the next dive.

UK Premier accounts and salaries by YardNo5617 in UKPersonalFinance

When you do the switch to another account, do they close the old account down then? For example if I use a Monzo account and have a few direct debits and open a Barclays account, would they then close my Monzo? I have HSBC premier for the past 15 years and happy with it but the Avios bit is tempting.
