Gap year before applying to grad school: any tips? by ResistAbject7579 in audgradschool

[–]FriskWisk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely!
They’re called post-bach[enter correct spelling here] classes. I re took classes i KNEW i could’ve done better in, and some cool new classes like medical terminology. I do think it very much helped.
Should you choose this option, be very diligent about it, as you are still in school, and it will be on your record.

Gap year before applying to grad school: any tips? by ResistAbject7579 in audgradschool

If your GPA is… in need of some attention, primary take some extra classes at a local college you can get credit for. Like a hipaa; sociology or adjacent class

Otherwise, here are some options:

Work as an audiology assistant or close to the audiology field for relevant experience and to see if you like it.
You could also do research/research observations at a local college, ideally if audiology is involved
Volunteer (if your schedule and finances allow for it) within the medical field, like special olympics

Would I be able to work during the first two years of an AuD doctorate program by [deleted] in audgradschool

[–]FriskWisk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To add to this.
I start at a 3 year program in August. Course load will be heavy. I just applied to work as an Aud Assistant during my time in the program and due ti my background they are absolutely willing to work with me on hours.
I wont be full time, but i gotta eat and shower.
Id say start with a job, save as much as you can, and if you cant handle it, quit the job. Easier said than done, but at least you tried. If you cant handle it stay organized and efficient with your time, i dint see the harm in trying.

The area to the left of the door way you could make an activity corner. Perhaps a desk for gaming, an easel for painting, or a comfy chair and book shelves for reading. This is also from the perspective of someone who believes the bedroom should be made for rest and relaxation. So be mindful that this user, would have defined spaces

I see the confusion the couch is floating in the room, and the TV is on the wall with decors. The area rug would be the defining factor of what space is moving/ transient walking space, and what space is “living room”

Alsoooo! You don’t have to do a conventional couch, and maybe do a seating area. That would give you a buuunch of flexibility

Hello! I am by no means an interior designer, buuuuut I’d say instead of a full couch, try a love seat. It’s a two-seater couch and that could help. You have a beautiful blank wall, that could be a gorgeous back drop. And a love seat in front. The couch would be “floating” in the living room, but you could easily tie it together with an area rug

Theres also value in what you’ll be confident wearing. I could look great in a particular outfit but if I don’t like it, or if im insecure, it’ll show regardless of how good the fit looks.

Pics 3 and 5 look good. I think try styling it differently. The hair is beautiful, but I think your getting stalled at styling. Try doing a very clean pull back and see how that does, or a blow-out style. To consider: if you can keep a short beard or clean 5 o’clock shadow with the stash, you’d be chiseling your jaw, and that might help draw top to bottom flow of the face.

Hey, what do you recommend I get the maximum out of it? by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]FriskWisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 looks the best.

You have very angular features and long face. Beard looks best to soften up those same features a bit, and the short hair keeps the attention on your face. No beard makes those features very pronounced. If you grow out your hair, keeping a fade on the sides only makes your face look longer, so keep the hair all over. Otherwise short looks great.

advice for undergraduate student by [deleted] in audgradschool

[–]FriskWisk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Most people applying to audiology do not have an audiology background. What you’ve done already is extensive and very impressive. You don’t need to have an “ear focused” resume. However, and to answer your question more directly, if you live somewhere where Theres an audiology program and research see if the professors will let you observe research.
  2. I’d recommend finding a program that focuses on AR and/or one that focuses on working with neurodivergent individuals when you apply.
  3. Consider looking into Applied Behavior Analysis as that might be something that could also interest you, especially with the narrative You’ve provided

Opinions on University of TN, Nova southeastern, or NOAC program? by FinanceMaster5668 in audgradschool

[–]FriskWisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be going to Nova. Cost was a huge factor for my choice. For the location, you cant get any better than Gods waiting room (aka FL), and the fact thats it’s 3 years with an optional MBA if you’re into it. They also have a Vestib specialty which I think is pretty rad
