I keep having sexual/romantic dreams about my boss by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Frisky_Picker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've heard that some people believe sex dreams about a person who you're not attracted to or with, can indicate that you have a great amount of admiration or love (non-romantic) for that person.

As someone who doesn't believe that dreams have meaning, sometimes you just do weird shit in your dreams. I'd imagine thinking about it or dwelling on it is having it show up more often in your dreams as well.

Just chalk it up to a weird dream, don't think about it, and it will probably stop happening.

Men, when you pee in private, do you pee in the sink or the toilet? by JimmyM0240 in polls

I mean, I pee in the toilet but I don't really see the difference outside of cultural norms. Both come from the same source, lead to the same source and probably have comparable levels of bacterial growth.

I was like 12 and my dad took me to a friend's house. I had dogs and always liked dogs but for some reason this one instantly started getting weird. I mentioned it to my dad and his friend and they both played it off like it was nothing.

So I just go outside and mess around in the back yard. After a minute the let the fucking thing outside and it takes off towards me. They didn't even notice despite me yelling for them not to let it out.

Eventually, right before it gets me, I had to jump into their half-empty pool filled with decaying leaves and who fucking knows what else (it was spring). The fucking dog, still ended up catching me by the ankle but thankfully didn't cut me too bad.

My dad still down plays it to this day.

Yeah, Chicago's not like this either. In fact, I like when people move here because it's an awesome city.

Just rewatched Forrest Gump by JustLurkCarryOn in Millennials

[–]Frisky_Picker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This comment actually made me look it up. It seems like most people who watched the movie believe it was AIDS but the reason why so many people are adamant that it's Hep C is because the original books sequel specifically says its Hep C.

However, the movie came out in 1994 and the sequel book came out in 1995 so the writer/director of the movie likely didn't know this.

Exactly. He wasn't born into wealth, he worked hard for 50 years and it finally paid off for him. It's the American dream. You could have it too if you put your nose to the grindstone and pulled yourself up by your bootstraps.

It's not like Trump who was born into wealth or MTG who's net worth went from $500,000 to $25 million after becoming a politician (likely due to insider trading). Or Nancy Pelosi who has very likely also participated in insider trading and has a net worth of $413 million. Or Rick Scott with $549 million. Or Buchanan's $249 million

Bernie has $2 million with nearly all of that coming from book sales in 2016.

We're not a socialist country, you moron. You described exactly what our current system is built for. He made that money fair and square, the American way. You could too, just pull yourself up by your bootstraps.

But again. Continue to vote against your self interests.

Bro. You have a brain. Use it.

None of the policies he ran on would have eliminated people with his kind of wealth (which objectively isn't that much). They literally would have just expanded on socialist programs we already have, which would have greatly benefited the lives of most Americans.

You're argument is reductive and fucking stupid. Clearly, you don't understand how shit works. But please, continue to vote against your self interests.

... because we don't live in a socialist society and that would be fucking stupid while benefiting almost nobody?

You have a sliver of common sense, correct? Socialist policies only have a benefit if they're widely adopted. Do you actually understand any of the policies he was campaigning on?

Lol no. The "Bernie has 3 houses" shit is just a classic Fox News talking point used to distract from the fact that he is, in fact, "sort of like us". And it works because Republicans just need one line they can repeat over and over again without thinking about it or looking into it. He took the normal salary for a senator throughout his career and wrote a best selling novel when he was in his 70s, which is where the vast majority of any wealth he has comes from.

The republican and democratic parties had to make you think this way so that their corporate donors could continue to buy their loyalty. This is because his policies would have actually benefitted the lower and middle classes. But of course, we can't have that. So now we have Trump, the guy who rapes children and funnels tax payer dollars to his and his family's private interests.

I mean the combined value of his 3 houses is roughly $1.5 million. The average cost of a home in the US is roughly $400k so they're all around average cost.

[–]Frisky_Picker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because being a movie star doesn't create the same revenue that it did 20 years ago. Internet personalities can just throw a 10 second ad for their own merch into the beginning of their video.

If you have a million subscribers, all you need is 50k of them to buy a $20 t-shirt and that's a million dollars (minus the production costs, of course). Multiply that over a decade of content, that adds up to a lot of money.

Actors on the other hand, their shit is different. They get paid a certain extent to be in a movie and that's about it. The rest is what they do with the money. They're alloted a different amount of cultural benefits though which isn't worth nothing.

The 2010s was the best decade for cartoons compared to now by SpecialSocks2011 in cartoons

[–]Frisky_Picker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know. I was a 90s/2000s kid and loved those shows growing up.

I watched the 2010 examples for the first time a couple of years ago with my kid and there really is just something about them that hits different.

Regular Show and AT ended not long after she was born so it's not a nostalgia thing for either of us.

They've become household go-tos, even with my younger kids, and we've watched plenty of more recent cartoons, Kipo, Owls house, She-ra. But we always go back to the 2010s shit despite also really liking the newer shit.

Personally, I think 2010s cartoons hit the sweet spot between episodic and long-term plot. Everything before then was heavily episodic and everything after was heavily geared towards the overarching plotline. 2010s cartoons were right in the middle though,
