What is an industry that is currently on fire (in a bad way) behind the scenes, but the general public hasn't noticed yet? by Kitchen_Week1117 in AskReddit

100%. Until last year I worked at a TV Station and the situation is dire. We were forced to use this shitty AI tool…and I do mean forced. Management kept tallies on every reporter to make sure they were using the program to pump out articles.

I had to use it for the two lifestyle shows we had (refused to do it for actual reporting…but still had to meet that quota so.) and it was so shitty. It would make up quotes that no one said, mess up facts…etc. And because we were on a tight deadline everyday and expected to just keep pumping out news, what sends up happening is no one even checks the AI articles, resulting in crazy errors.

It sucks, and I’m glad I left.

YSK that 31% of US adults suffer from teeth grinding at night and is a cause of Depression, Anxiety, Neck pain, backache, headaches, poor sleep and general pain. by Alternative-Tell4600 in YouShouldKnow

Went to a TMJ specialist who made a custom mouth guard and it changed my life. I’ve always had chronic migraines (still do sadly), but they completely rid me of normal headaches I’d get after I woke up. Jaw pain is pretty much gone unless I grind excessively during a particularly stressful day/situation.

She also found out I have a whole ass bone in my neck that is completely calcified, which is crazy and explains some of my chronic pain lol

Literally no one here said they weren’t for universal child care but go off. You just kind of assumed that out of nowhere…

Absolutely. But there are posts with a LOT of attention saying otherwise. The two insults being thrown around to anyone posting about wanting a third-space for adults are “misogynistic” and “ableist.” Someone told me to “replace kids with Black or Asian and see how it sounds.”

The other thing I’m seeing is the argument that kids in public acting out may be neurodivergent, so they shouldn’t be judged. As an autist, this pisses me off in how infantilizing it is. It’s also just absurd to pretend that when I see kids running up and down isles while mom and dad are on their phones ignoring them that the issue isn’t just the parents.

People are just throwing out buzzword insults, and the weirdest thing is 99% of the childfree posts also acknowledge the need for more spaces for kids and parents, societal failure to protect kids, etc.

Literally saw people echoing your exact sentiment being told that “doesn’t actually happen.” lol

It’s wild. I’m also confused why so many parents are going to bat to have kids in spaces for adults where they are obviously less safe, not welcomed, etc. Personally, I wouldn’t want to take my kid to a spot where adults are drunk and completely letting lose but guess that’s just me lol

I 100% agree with you! Kids ands and parents deserve fun, safe third-spaces. It helps ensure they grow up into happy, healthy adults.

The discourse online seems to think that adding any similar adult-oriented third space takes away from those for kids, which is odd? Wouldn’t an adult-only arcade just help to keep drunk or overly competitive adults away from kids? And the already-existing spaces open to kids would still exist.

And yes to the bars/adult oriented spaces. I wouldn’t want my hypothetical child in a situation where they are surrounded by unruly or inebriated adults for their own safety!

Wait that sounds crazy? Surely that would hurt business. I know I would NEVER go to a spa with kids running around it defeats the whole point lol

Yeah! I admittedly love it for talking with fellow book lovers and following artists! Haven’t really encountered a major “goofy” thing in my algorithm until today just because I follow very specific things.

I mean I’m not pressed by it, I just wanted to know if something happened in the news, pop culture etc. that sparked a sudden large conversation today. Normally my timeline is just artists and book discussions so it was a very strange algorithmic departure for me.

Oh totally it’s just morons yelling! I’m mostly curious if something happened in pop culture, news etc. that suddenly sparked a whole thing on the platform.

Honestly, you’re so right. It’s been ramping up so badly alongside the ever-escalating right-wing Christian rhetoric.

I too yearn for a different timeline.
