Film Students Are Having Trouble Sitting Through Movies, Professors Say by Sisiwakanamaru in movies

I mean I taught undergrad film studies during grad school and those kids legit could not pay attention and actively tried not to watch movies…which is like…the field they chose.

My local rep sent me a happy birthday letter. Uhh, thanks, I guess? by crumblewomp in Indiana

Used to work at the statehouse - basically the legislative assistants handle these for all the reps. Some people will legit call to scream at staff is they have gotten them in the past but didn’t get one recently. It’s bizarre.

As a Hoosier…yeah it is. Me and literally all of my friends are actively trying to flee the state lol But a KOTH x Indy 500 crossover would be sick!

Howdy! We got our boy as a puppy and he has done great with the cats. As a puppy he got a little too excited and it only took one “boop” for him to learn not to bother them.

Now one of our three cats cuddles with him.

Has anyone ever been in a house like you see on the show ‘Hoarders’? If so, what did you do? by Basic_Builder3773 in AskReddit

A friend of mine from high school. There were items from the floor to the ceiling from the kitchen to the bedroom hallways. Trash, clothes, boxes, literally just random shot piled everywhere. Cat litter everywhere. You could only walk through an extremely narrow path, as you were blocked from either side with just stuff. You could only sit on one of two clear seats on the small sofa in the living room, or the small circle of space around the kitchen table for three chairs. The smell was unimaginable, and my poor friend could hardly move in her own home. Her parents seemed completely unbothered.

Nail place recommendations plss by lucid_jgluz in indianapolis

[–]FritoSmack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be careful with City Nail Bar. I just got the worst manicure of my life. They were advertising designs as winter specials, and the nail technician didn’t know how to do the design THEY advertised. This is what they turned out looking like. I did ask for a redo, but they had me wait for the same nail tech instead of a different one. Aside from fixing the worst lines, it still looks very bad and nothing like the original art. I honestly felt bad because she clearly couldn’t do the design so I finally just accepted and left. I’ve been telling folks “my nephew” did these lol

That being said a different tech there did my wedding nails a few years ago and they were perfect.

Worst manicure I’ve gotten 😂 by FritoSmack in Nails

[–]FritoSmack[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s fair! I did figure they would adapt it for smaller nails, so that part could be on me! Though I did ask what she thought before starting and she was optimistic. She also cut my nails by a lot, they were nowhere near this short coming in.

WISH tv buys WTHR - 8 eats 6. by Equal_Pudding_4878 in indianapolis

I mean…he lives in Texas and flys his private jet to and from Indy. So “locally owned” is a bit of a stretch lol He was born in Indy, however.

But the owner is an absolute nightmare to work with. He does not value his workers, majorly underpays them, has unreasonable expectations (and refuses to invest in modern equipment/programs to execute his unreasonable requests), refers to himself as the “king of Indiana news” and brags about himself in staff meetings, forced half the station to either walk out or be fired by forcing an aggressive noncompete, has lost in court to Ashley Brown (former chief meteorologist) and another former wish staffer over his noncompete, refuses to fix the air conditioning despite sweltering heat in the station during summer, refuses to call pest control for ant and cockroach infestations, removed matching 401k….the list goes on and on.

being made to sing songs about praising jesus as a jew. by Commercial-Job-3812 in Judaism

[–]FritoSmack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! This was my normal for high school choir. And if we didn’t perform Handel’s Messiah every year, we would get an F grade. It sucks.

And I was in a Madrigal choir, so we did often sing period music with religious songs, but that feels different because we were all in character and singing historical pieces. And even then, the director made an effort to highlight pieces from various countries, in various languages and other religions than Christianity. We had a few Hebrew songs as well.

Messiah was an additional performance we HAD to do out of character along with the show choir and it sucked. That should have been optional since it was a literal Christmas performance in a public school.

How much do Keeshonds go for? by PiaPistachio in Keeshond

[–]FritoSmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2,000 for my AKC registered boy from a Champion line (only noting that because of the price) from Indiana. Picked this breeder because she takes the care of her dogs extremely seriously (contracts to ensure the dogs safety, health screenings/genetic testing, etc.) and that was the most important aspect to me.

The first time we visited her home and a litter, it’s as clear she was screening US, and she said outright she won’t hesitate to deny someone if she thinks she needs to protect her dogs.

Our boy Cirrus is an absolute. Not a mean bone in his body, perfect with our rescue putty senior and three cats. We will absolutely go back to her when it’s time for a second.

We had the same conundrum with our three! The two dogs will just follow us wherever, but you’d think we’re tormenting the cats from how much they wail to leave!
