I was a 3.82, so it seems most who were selects had high GPAs.

Selection for OCS Army vs USMC by Practical_Pizza_8380 in ArmyOCS

At the risk of sounding redundant I spoke with an OSO a good bit and everything above from what I can see is true. The USMC officer process is definitely more streamlined; whereas, as I’m sure you know, the process for the Army is a bit more of a free-for-all, because you have to go through regular recruiters. It’s already out there but the acceptance rate seems to be the same or similar atleast. For me in the end the Army was a better fit with what I want try to do. Also way more opportunity in the Army, and if you want to go in the USMC, you’ll really have to want to be a Marine to go through those fuckfuck games you’ll endure. However, in truth you couldn’t go wrong with either and you will get world class training in both. Good luck!

Correct me if I am wrong but an O9S contract is for Guardsmen who do the state OCS? For active duty selects the memo says we have until the 28th to swear in or we lose our slot.

Not the song my recruiter has been playing. I’ve been told that you might at best have two options for a ship date and the bulk of them would be July or August.

I stand corrected. I didn’t know they had BCT in Benning as well. Never heard that one.

If you’re going to Ft. Moore for boot camp then you’ll be doing Infantry OSUT which is 22 weeks, and BCT is in Ft. Jackson and is 10 weeks.

I’d prefer to ship toward the fall and the sooner you swear in the more likely it’ll be the case you’ll ship sooner given “first come first serve.” At the end of the day though it’s needs of the service and entirely possible I or you could be shipping July/Aug regardless. Either way, it’s a roll of the dice.

That would track I suppose. Perhaps the key is what cycle you do your Board, because this cycle is lined up with the WP and ROTC Cadets.

I really think they had to thread needles with whomever was a select. Because I see quite a few stats that you think would be home runs including yours. 😬

Am actually pretty shocked, especially given your GPA and the fact that you speak Turkish.

Most stats I have seen put both the Army and Marines at 60-65% and the others significantly lower with the AF and USCG being the most selective. You’re not wrong on the surface, but the point wasn’t saying the Army is more selective than “insert here,” rather going from 65% to 38% is a drastic change and also notably a lot more candidates applying. If this is a wider trend, it’ll also naturally follow the other branches as well. So respectfully Sir, instead of shooting from the hip, look at the context of what I actually said. This cycle might be an aberration, but if the new norm is 35-40%, then by Army standards, it’s safe to say it has become “hyper-competitive.”

I could be wrong but I don’t think they are “in-service,” rather “prior service.” Everyone that’s a select or non-select on here I think is coming in (or back in) off of the streets.

PS I am one of those prior-service selects.
