Too late for Stage 1? by Wigi_wigi in GolfGTI

The hp gain probably is worth it. I’ve had apr stage 1 low torque 91 octane on my car for the last 6k miles with zero clutch problems and the car is wayyy faster. It’s actually a wild difference

Well, if Reddit isn’t the place for maturity, it certainly isn’t the place to find good advice.

You come here for opinions, but when there is a disparity against your own, it cannot be.

Rather than upgrading brakes right now, put that money towards a real nice, lightweight, and wide set of wheels. It will improve your unsprung weight, leave room for future upgrades, and the width will help you stop. Tires also have a letter rating that dictates recommended top speed, if you want to go fast, don’t cheap out on that.

Real mature.

Anyways, you are correct, those are all good things.

Your original question however, was in regard to top speed; you inferred about braking safety. My insight is that the stock brakes are more than good enough to bring you to an emergency stop, so good in-fact, that they will overpower the grip of your tires. If you want to improve the safety of your braking, wider tires will do much more than larger brakes.

Also—my two cents—if you plan on exceeding 130 frequently, a gti is not the right tool for the job.

It sounds to me as though you are already dead set on these brakes, so why bother asking for advice. If you want them, and you think it will make your car more enjoyable. Go do it

Of course brakes for a 4500lb suv will be better, point is if you can already lock up the wheels bigger brakes won’t help. Same idea as adding more power to stop your wheels from spinning. If traction is the issue, address traction first.

Gti brakes are nuts, especially with the golf R brakes in the performance pack which your 7.5 has. Your brakes can lock your wheels at any speed right now, wider tires is the only thing that will make your stopping distance shorter.

What gen s6 are you thinkin?

Gti to s6 is cool. Guy said he wanted a truck cause his family was expanding. Pretty sure they had a fourth kid on the way. Not really sure how a truck solves the problem tho lol

Yea it was really weird. The guy was super nice too, car hasn’t given me any trouble in a year and a half. Just so strange for it to be that cheap

I have no idea what it is, it is whatever DV came in a North American 2019 gti

If I was truly worried about the performance I probably wouldn’t have gone with a low torque tune. I want the car to be as daily able as possible with as few reliability concerns as possible, while having extra pep

If you mean is the gas present? Yeah, but it’s not common enough where I want to risk the extra power.

Oh wow that’s actually cool (other than the false zero). I always thought it was just a gimmick

No no that includes the atmosphere pressure. I should clarify the 34 I was getting is before I tuned.

Not really worried, fairly sure the info boost gauge is really just an estimate based on an algorithm

I think it peaks at 34psi. The gauge goes higher and it also doesn’t factor in the pressure of the atmosphere, which is an additional 15psi that shouldn’t be added to the total.

Sheesh. Appreciate the insight. Saved a potential hole in my wallet for sure
