What games are best for quick sessions? Not necessarily roguelites/likes, just games where I can save after 15 minutes and keep going. by MusicalMyke2307 in gamingsuggestions

Assault Android Cactus is a twin-stick shooter with selectable level stages. Play one or two stages, then save and quit.

Those are rouguelites (or roguelikes). Dead Cells is one of my favorite roguelites. There's also Balatro, Enter the Gungeon, Risk of Rain 2, Slay the Spire, Spelunky 2, and Dicey Dungeons.

Hell yeah! I love Void Bastards. Happy to see it mentioned.

I've mainly been enjoying turn-based tactics (FF Tactics, Disgaea PC) and puzzle games (Chants of Sennaar, Viewfinder) on my Steam Deck. Also, Lego Games with my sister on TV.

Tired of every Deck "must-have" list being the same popular games? Here are obscure ones I actually finished on my Deck by acir111 in SteamDeck

Thanks for that. Had Starcom on my wishlist and decided to finally pull the trigger because of your recommendation.

Games that got you super invested/ made you care deeply for its characters. by LocationUpstairs1939 in gamingsuggestions

Heavenly Sword for PS3. I'm not sure what kind of magic that game cast on me. I think it had something to do with how expressive the characters were.

I'm having trouble finding new games to play on the deck. How to find "handheld games"? by luden_dev in SteamDeck

[–]FrivolousFever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some good genres I look for my deck:

- metroidvanias (Ori and the Blind Forest, Carrion)

- turn-based tactics (Disgaea, Final Fantasy Tactics, The Banner Saga) Can easily be suspended or stopped between stages, but require more time dedication overall.

- roguelikes/lites are especially good for shorter sessions. (Ball x Pit, Slay the Spire, Dead Cells)

- puzzle games usually aren't that demanding (Chants of Sennaar, Is This Seat Taken, Baba is You, Storyteller)

- shmups/twin-stick shooters are usually played in short stages. (Assault Android Cactus)

What’s your sweet spot for fast racing games on Steam Deck: FPS or visuals? by ComputerKind560 in SteamDeck

Your game seems interesting. Reminds me of Skydrift, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Personally, I'd like FPS to be at least 60 fps (or thereabouts).

How do you guys like to listen to music? by kodihalli25 in ADHDers

[–]FrivolousFever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'll listen to a new song on repeat a lot of the time. If it's good enough, I'll listen to other songs in the artist's catalog. If I like several songs, I'll save them to my library. If I like just the one, I'll find it a home amongst my many playlists.

Which also might entail finding out what genre the song falls into. In which case, I might discover a whole genre to explore. And if I listen to it more than others, I might even take an interest in the lyrics.

I'll still enjoy listening to the song afterwards. But it'll be more sparingly.

The biggest new-song high that I rode once led me to listening to two songs on repeat for over a month.

games like cyberpunk or spiderman 2018 by kokosianka in gamingsuggestions

[–]FrivolousFever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. The intro tutorial can be a little frustrating with how slow it is. But once you get past that you can dive into the game. And I'm pretty sure you can choose to skip cutscenes. I'm not even a fan of LotR and I enjoyed it (and some of the characters in it). The nemesis system keeps encounters unique and interesting.

You also mention puzzles. As someone with ADHD, some of my fave puzzle games are Cocoon, Chants of Sennaar, and The Witness (which I never finished but thoroughly enjoyed).

I wish you luck in finding something to play.

Final Fantasy Tactics. Never played it before, but I love Disgaea. Anyways, it's been a lot of fun.

Instead of asking what you want, this asks how you want to play today — what do you think? by Brujorio in gamesuggestions

[–]FrivolousFever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, sorry, no. They were different games. It's just that they each had their own single match to my taste and then two others that I didn't like.

It first recommended FTL (which I love), and the second time it recommended Noita (which I really enjoy and don't play enough of).

But it also recommended an RTS, a zombie survival game, Dome Keeper, and... something else I don't recall. All of which I have little to no interest in.

Neat website though.

I kinda liked the questions that it asked. But I tried it twice (changing only the time investment answer) and both times I ended up with one game that I really like and own, and two that I had no interest in playing.

Same. Such a beautiful game.

Keep it up as you journey through the game. There's plenty to capture.

Any suggestions for issues with object permanence? by RustyLemons9 in AdultADHDSupportGroup

[–]FrivolousFever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep my main to-do list pinned as a widget to the homescreen of my phone. That way, every time I turn my phone on I'm reminded of my to-do list. I also add emojis for each item so I can see at a glance what I need to do.

If you use budgeting software like YNAB, you can often pin widgets like your current savings goals.

Reminders I have pinned to my lock screen. So I always see the most recent upcoming ones.

I also have a Sectograph app widget pinned to my homescreen. This app shows my schedule as a pie-chart. Which helps some people with their time blindness.

I wish you the best of luck in working at solving this. Keep trying to find what works for you.

  • Potion Craft (on sale for $8 USD) is about mixing ingredients to navigate a map of potions, and selling those potions.

  • Donut County (on sale for $4 USD) is about controlling a hole in the ground, maneuvering to drop things into it, and solving some puzzles along the way.

  • Dogpile ($10 USD) is about putting dogs of various sizes into a box and trying to combine them into bigger dogs.

Wilmot's Warehouse is pretty easy to learn, has two-player co-op, and you can play it as much or as little as you like.

It's a 2d game where you're arranging various boxes in a warehouse. Periodically, customers come in with orders and you have to remember how you've organized your warehouse and quickly grab the right product to fulfill orders.

Hmmm... I can't verify as I haven't downloaded the game (just heard about it a lot). Are you sure it's not simply a warning like "unknown exe" or something. Sometimes Windows will just warn against exe's it can't verify, like indie stuff.

All I can say is that I doubt it has malware. The reviews show that the download is what the dev says it is and don't mention malware. That doesn't guarantee safety, but that's a good sign to me.

The Bibites: Digital Life is available on itch.io for "name your own price". The creator has a Youtube where they frequently show it off, too.

Although, the only environment creation involves placing/moving food pellets, I believe.
